84109237656 - USB SOCKET - $25.90 USB socket is what you are looking for. If the cable is damaged behind as well, the Cable set is what you will need. How did you manage to break it LOL.

I didn't use mine for a year and the other day I was saying to myself "How the hell do I access that USB" - It didn't show up on the list. And then I remembered to click to the right twice and hit import music. Then it loaded everything to the hard drive and all is happy again. I rarely ever use the hard drive even though it's nice to have. HD radio and Pandora over bluetooth streaming FTW!

Mike is correct. The glovebox USB port is for importing ONLY. All it does is copies your music files on the flash drive to the internal harddrive of the CIC navi unit.

I might as well update my repair. They did not end up replacing my USB port, as it was also in for a oddly behaving passenger window (would roll up with the master window switch and then back itself down about 3/4 of the way). They found a bad "junction box" that seemed to be causing the USB and window problems. They replaced that in the end and left the USB alone.
As aside, this was the car's first trip to a US dealer since moving back from Germany. The SA could not really tell me if they "updated" the car (never been done previously) although they had to activate my US BMW Assist and they stated that it required extensive programming. My SA is kind of lame. Can anyone out there that can check software version?

I use the USB port in my glovebox to charge my iPhone.
