Wow then my decision to tune it the day I bought it with 5 miles on the ODO was a good one after all!

Yes, good call, if nothing else for the safety, though 300awhp is pretty cool too if you like that kind of thing
They may have fixed it for the latest and greatest stuff, but I know for sure that the current bodystyle has still had the issue as a friend with '10-11 ish cars have had bone stock cars blow up, for a car with such short gearing that is bound to hit the limiter often it's pretty boneheaded IMO, not typical Japanese manufacturer SOP

Your list seems fine except for one thing. Springs.
Springs will not improve the handling of your car, in fact, they probably will make it worse. Specifically on tracks that have lots of camber changes, undulations and rough pavement. You should keep the suspension stock with camber plates (will help) or go all out and get some tck / jrz / Ohlins etc coilovers with linear spring rates. Springs only will cause your car to be unsettled and have worse traction than stock on anything but the smoothest and flattest pavement if matched with oem dampers. Don't do it |

Cool. I was just trying to differentiate how the M3 which is heavier but much more balanced, terrific steering feedback and much more powerful is more at home at a faster track (like Big Willow or Auto Club Speedway) compared with the STi that is lighter with a lot of grip, poor steering feedback and way less power which would be home at an auto-x event or a slower, tighter track like SOW. Chuck and Buttons are probably in-between tracks (more technical in nature) for which either car may work nicely. I suppose it's a nice problem to have to choose between two capable track cars when deciding which one to use!

^I can tell you that M3 is perfectly fine for Buttonwillow and Chuckwalla.
But, yea, it's too heavy for SoW, which is why I stay away from it. Last time I went, I ran it in a borrowed BRZ. As for Big Willow and ACS, I still like them, but they're mostly comprised of all just high-speed sections. Thrilling yes, but not as fun & technical as Buttonwillow and Chuckwalla... I wish I had the space to keep multiple cars at my house. Look forward to seeing you & your cars out there!

The RX7 was a great car for its time. Awesome as a matter of fact.
If you can find a low mileage well cared RX7, I would go for it. You can get into a used S2000 for like $8000 bucks. Some E92 M3 owners have BBS wheels that run $8000-$9000 alone. So the S2000 today is very cheap and easy to fix and replace things. I did everything myself or with a buddy of mine. I loved mine and wished I would have never gotten rid of it, but I could say that for my 07 Z4MC as well. Awesome machines. |

S2000 is what the Miata should have been if Mazda had any guts at all, dead simple and reliable, can beat the hell out of them and they just keep going
