Eibach? H & R? Or other?

Eibach springs? H&R Springs? Or something else?

i was told eibach had a pretty smooth ride, what do you reccomend?

I have been happy with H&R sport. Cannot comment on Eibach.

Eibachs are progressive rate which is not ideal. H&R are stiffer and linear rate but IMO they are a little too low in the front. What I would like is a set of springs with an Eibach type drop that have the stiffness of H&R.

Ultimately I think coilovers are the way to go. They cost a lot more but they ride better than springs when set up correctly and they offer the best improvement in handling.

I have H&Rs now, but I think I'm going to be replacing them w/ KW V3 sooner or later.

Yes, Eibach springs are progressive rate...but so are H&R Sport springs, RD Sport springs, and Dinan high-performance springs.

The only difference between all these progressive rate springs, is the stiffness of the spring wire used to manufacture them.

so which do you preffer quality wise, and comfort wise?

Eibach.

Best aftermarket sport springs on the market IMO.

Dinan is a close second...

I went with the Eibach because it less aggressive. I've had them for three months and can't say anything bad about them because they feel just a tad bitter stiffer than stock in comfort mode. Sport mode is a different story...

I had Eibach on my last car and now with the M3 I have H&R. The Eibachs dramatically changed the stiffness in my ride. You could tell there was a change in ride quality. With the H&R's the change in ride comfort was minimal. I would recommend the H&R's for looks and comfort.

For the exact opposite reason I suggest the Eibachs. I'm happy with them for a few months now.

Not a bad choice either way, I would do the H&R between the two mainly because I prefer the look of H&R over the Eibach.

Interesting...I've heard the exact opposite of what you're describing. In fact two of my buddies so far have switched from H&R on their E92's. One guy went to Eibach (which I'm having installed on Monday), and the other guy went with the Dinans. Both are happy with their new set-ups, but I must agree that the H&R's look great.

Okay, so I just got my car back after having the Eibachs installed. I can confirm first hand that my car rides much smoother than my neighbors e92 with H&R's. The car feels great in normal and sport, but it's a bit "busy" in comfort. That's not much of a problem though, as I never have the car in comfort mode. IMO the drop is just right...it doesn't look slammed, but it doesn't have as much gap in front as the Dinans. This is a wonderful mod in my opinion and highly recommend Eibach .

Right, the H&Rs have a slight rake to them which I like over the Eibachs. It gives the car a cat like stance, almost like it's about to pounce.

If you're mainly concerned with the drop, the Eibach is probably the best bet. If you want to maintain street and track performance but don't want to go to coilovers, then look to the Dinan kit which has an ideal spring rate for the EDC and provides hats and bump stops to match the spring changes.

I've not riden in an HR car, but what I read in many threads here is that they're harsher.

I've got the Dinan kit.

Eibach feels great on the street and in the canyon . I haven't tracked it yet, but I'll post up a review once I do.

Looks wise, I like the Eibachs - HR's look uneven - too low in the back compared to the front.
