Ashecnc, the insurance adjuster should be calling me today. He saw the car yesterday morning. I also believe that it will be totalled, and hope so. If the car depriciated in the 4 mo. that I had it, well then I still have G.A.P. insurance that I bought from BMW to cover the difference, so I don't care one way or the other. The kid did have insurance, and they accepted 100% liability, and gave me a rental until this gets sorted out (a mazda 3). If it was a different car, maybe I would be a lot worse off. I only have a cut and bruised knee, and a messed up wrist.

That car is definitely gone. I can see the hood caved. If not it'll be around $20,000 to fix.

it might be a total in US.
$30,000 to fix a few months old 330i is not making a total for our car price
hope you sorted out soon.

Make sure in any settlement with the insurance company that you are fully reimbursed. If it is a total loss that you recoup any out of pocket fees and taxes that you already paid. If they are going to attempt to fix it, make sure they understand that the car will need to be perfect, and even if it is you are going to expect Dimunition of Value for the accident.

A few questions, you said the CD kept playing, and I noticed the lights were still on in the pics. Did the battery not disconnect?

Also, I noticed the Sunroof open both in the wreck pics and at the shop. Did the car do that after the crash to vent the air bags or did you have it opened. I've seen the roofs opened in a lot of wrecks and was wondering.

Bily, I had the sunroof open before the accident, and I just don't think that they closed it while in the shop. The battery is another question in itself. I lookd at the battery and the terminals and didn't see but a lot of plastic covering some part of the battery, so I'm thinking under that is where that small charge is set off to disconnect in an accident. I think that it did because some piece poped off, but not for sure. The car would not crank or start afterwards, but I know that the fuel line is also disabled after an accident. There must be a seperate battery or a seperate line running from the battey to power the accessories because in the manual it states that after an accident the hazard lights flash automatically, and they did, so that needs some sort of power source?

The insurance co. just called, MY E90 IS TOTALLED!!! They said that the car suffered massive frame and structural damage, suspension and engine damage. That is more than enough to put a $42,000 car to sleep. WOW. I guess it is better that way, just she told me that they have to do some market research to see what the value of the car is w/ 6,000 miles on it....and that there will be some depriciation!! Thank God that I opted for the additional insurance through BMW....G.A.P. insurance where they cover the difference between what I owe and what I get for the car totalled. I don't think that I can wait until sept. production for the 335, so either Euro delivery again, or this time see what the performance delivery in South Carolina is all about?

I would get your wrist looked at very thoroughly by an orthopaedic surgeon & radiologist. The arrangement of the bones is complex, and damage to the ligaments or surface cartilage can have long term consequences, e.g., increasing the risk for arthritis and other complications.

stressdoc, I had the orthopaedic doctor look at my wrist and he said that everything looked fine. I took x rays, but should I get a MRI just in case? KL2DC, yeah the car was $2,500 cheaper due to ED, but then again I spent about $1,500 for the trip (mostly because I have relitives there and didn't have to pay for hotel or food). I will keep you guys posted though and let you know how this is going to work out. I hope you guys aren't sick of looking at this thread every day, but I was thinking that if any of you were to be in this situation, you would have an ideal of what to say/do/expect while in the same situation that I am in, to help give you the edge in information over the insurance companies and complications, lexi drivers, etc...

5 days since the accident, how does your wrist feel? The ins. co. is probably going to want you to sign off on any injury claims before they cut you a check for the car. I would be cautious about doing that until you are certain everything is OK.
