When you touch the handbrake, you'll get dirt/oil on the stitching. That white stitching I can see getting yellowish/grayish coloring that would be tough to clean. If you want to do something because you like it, just do it. You don't need anyone else's approval. It's your ride and your taste is what makes it unique!
