Swap 09 tail lights onto 08 Sedan M3?
I have been researching this and it looks like the outside lights are a direct swap just the inner trunk lights are not. Looks like I would need new 09 sedan trunk and inner lights. Anybody chime in, would be great! I love the 09 look rear lights so much better.

Coding is required for proper operation after installation.

With all these fugly aftermarket black/smoked LED taillights for the E90, you'd figure someone would make a LCI-looking aftermarket taillight. Is it really that hard?

Thanks for the quick responses! So the Life Cycle Impulse (LCI) trunk is needed and a simple coding change? Coding changed could be done at a dealer or shop that has programing capabilities?

Cost for this is mod is about 1k if you go with OEM trunk, not including paint. Getting this done as we speak. Coding from what I've been quoted around town is 50-70 bucks.

So trunk is about $300-$400 + paint? I wonder if regular 3 series trunk fits, if so might found one used cheaper?

Trunk cost 500-600 It is the same trunk for all 3 series sedan. Just the additional spoiler is added on. You can go with a used one will save you cash. I decided to go with everything brand new just to be safe.

Glad to see sedan guys trying to swap to LCI, a little trickier than coupe but I think WELL worth it. While you are it upgrade to a CSL style trunk for LCI tails. Huge upgrade in the rear compared to stock pre-LCI. The blacklines just don't get the job done.
