Red face What would you do? (job related)

Wassup ladies and gents, need some opinions please.

Right now I'm working at a place that's two blocks from my house in Brooklyn. The pay is not deff great, I'm making just enough to cover all my bills plus to go out once or twice on the weekend. As of lately, I started to absolutely HATE this place. I actually can't stand working there anymore, it's just that I don't do a whole lot of work and it's only a 5 min walk from my house.

I contacted my friend who owns a car leasing joint and told him to keep his eyes open for any dealerships (preferably BMW)that can use a salesperson. (I sold Toyotas from '03-'08). He got back to me later today and told me he has a couple of options for me.

Option 1 - A brand new Open Road VW dealership that just opened in S.I., which is just 15 minute drive from my house. He says that once I get my foot in a door of Open Road, from there I can go on to work at Audi, BMW, Acura, etc...

Option 2 - He's pretty sure he can get me into Paul Miller BMW, which is in a pretty wealthy area of North Jersey. The downside of this is this dealership is located 40 miles from my house. The commute will suck ass. On the other hand, my fiance and I are planning on moving to North Jersey in a year or two anyway.

So, what would you guys do if you were me?

A. Stay at the shithole I'm in now, living paycheck to paycheck just outta convenience?

B. Make a move to a brand new VW dealership and see what goes from there?

C. Kill my self in commute but have an opportunity to make good money along with perks like employee lease specials

Peace, love, and horsepower,

Freak.

BMW. You have to sell 2 VW to make the commission of 1 BMW.

if you aren't selling cars now, you'll hate it later on. trust me. long hours, very little guaranteed pay, lots of pressure from your GM to sell more, and any bmw CA will tell you that bmw shoppers are by and large the most picky lot of assholes to work with. then, being a rookie car salesmen at any dealership, your leads are probably going to suck and you'll have to work 50x harder to generate a sale. your superiors are going to give good leads to people they know can close.

i worked at a car dealership for a year when i was younger. although i wasn't in sales, i was one of the guys and got to see how shitty the life of a car salesmen really is.

You will have to decide what matters more to you. If you think you can make more money and enjoy selling BMW, you'd just have to deal with the commute. What's a long drive if it's something you enjoy doing? If you don't like the job, you should just look for a new one. Don't quit your current one just yet until you get a new job though.

PS- I agree with Blake. Selling cars is a very tough job. Then again you've sold cars before so I'm sure you know what's involved. You'd probably earn more per car with BMW while selling a smaller number of cars compared to Toyota.

if you plan on moving to north jersey at some point, the BMW dealership makes sense.

Move to Canada. Lots of open space, tons of snow and frigid arctic air (-21C last night).

When you say 40 miles, how long is the commute time? I'd go with either B or C if the commute isn't TOO bad. If you're going to move to Jersey, then that's another +1.
