Thanks dude. I mean in my area there are rich people around everywhere. Once I got a guy in a Porsche peeling out and hammering it. Estimated him going 80+ in a 45 at like 2am. I pulled him over, gave him a warning, and asked to look at all his mods under the hood and ended up talking to him about his car.

I go more by the "spirit of the law" and not the "letter of the law"...

Have I ever gone up against other cars? Of course I have. Again, its all human nature and sometimes people do things at the heat of the moment. That's why 99% of the tickets I write are NON Speeding tickets. In my 4 years I have only issued 2 speeding tickets and this is one of them.

If this kid was just speeding around like an idiot I wouldn't have even cared. The mere fact that he was calling me names and egging me on. That's a different story. Before I got on with the department I had a e36 and was racing everyone and believe me I had my fair share of tickets and I deserved every one of them. When I got the 335i well, I had a few lapses back to my old e36 days.. but in the end I never did anything crazy. Members that know me personally on this board can vouch for me personally. Hell, I don't even pull people over for no front plates because I don't have one myself.

I'm not super big on traffic tickets and pulling people over. Its the drug dealers, gang bangers, and guys who beat up on their wives n kids that interest me. Hell, one day I may get pulled over for running someone and when/if that days comes I will eat it.

Believe me, I sympathize with car enthusiasts as I have given a million breaks...this is just an isolated case. I don't feel high and mighty.. this kid just had it coming...
I've always wanted to ask a cop this...

what do you do to get out of a ticket when you get pulled over by a cop outside of your jurisdiction? Do you just show them your badge? I mean, there're thousands of police departments in this country - i.e., different cities, Port Authority cops, University cops, postal police, federal agencies, etc... how do they know if you are a real cop? And do you always get out of it?

Though I sometimes joke around about badging my way out of stuff I am not above the law myself, I just sit there they run my driver license (its confidentialized) and I even let them know that I was speeding and if they wanted to cite me they could. They just choose not to.

I am a car enthusiast and I love BMWs. Most guys that I work with drive pick-up trucks for SUVs... I am a rare one in my department because I love BMWs. I love tuning and buying new stuff for the car. Plus, this is the absolute first time I have ever done this in my 4 years of working. So yea.. he went that extra mile and beyond...
Random on my part, but was helping my my roomate who was helping out at the Brandon Marshall (yes the Bronco WR) youth football camp, and the local police rolled up a dare car and it was a former drug dealers Charger with a hemi, and we got on the discussion of cars and I had taken my 335 that day to the camp. 2 of the cops had 335's and the other a M3. Loved BMW's. They were bigtime enthusiasts, talking about going to the track though. Cool guys, even on duty.

Back to thread topic....thats awesome about this kid. I went 'cruising' once this summer, mainly to find some girls and hopefully a party, and ended up just getting taunted by a bunch of riced out WRX's trying to get me to race, with their exhausts sounding a like a damn riding lawnmower. A couple of em stock even. One obviously didnt have radar and my V1 was going NUTS, so I just reved it up and as the light goes green he nails it and I just go at a normal pace. BLAMMO, he gets nailed, haha. My other reply just snip at them, "I could have bought 2 of your cars, but I wanted something with class."

Douchebag frat college kids in WRX's just piss me off...I dont race on the street. Its dumb for one, could endanger others for 2, and why do it? I know my cars fast as shit, who I do I have to prove it to? I just dont get it

Or he taught this kid a lesson before he endangered himself or others. That kids gonna learn now.

When I was 3, I was messing around feeling around the stove and my grandpa who was watching me, just let me touch the damn hot burner. Guess what, I learned NOT to stupid shit like that again. Yea, maybe OP went a tad overboard with the impounding and such, but the kid learned a valuable lesson that his 'parents' obviously didnt do.

Belts, slaps upside the head, paddlings and the like need to be brought back. Makes people more mature at younger ages. You learn the hard way not to do stupid shit, and that would have helped this kid out.

It's not so much even that. OP already explained he's a pretty chill cop with speeding tickets, just this dumb ass kid kept asking for it....despite multiple hints.

OP's how all cops should be.

Do you enjoy representing yourself as an ignorant child? If so, I guess you shouldn't care.

You're the 2nd retard I've come across on these boards today that doesn't seem to understand common decency.

It changes lanes and it was a murdered out 350Z. Pretty much he was jabbing at his throttle getting me to run. I just stayed in the slow lane and cruised. After a minute or so of trying the driver side window rolls down and some idiot sticks his hand out and gives me a thumbs down. The guy zooms off and begins weaving through traffic.

I keep my pace and he gets stuck behind traffic. Again I am side by side with this clown and he again tries to get me to run. Well, I end up getting ahead of him, he changes lanes, and he begins to ride my ass. He was so close that I couldnt even see his headlights anymore. That's 1. I take a exit and he follows. Perfect. I call in to my co-worker who was on beat and told him to position himself should this idiot follow me into my city. My lane splits into 2 lanes and he gets beside me. The driver looks over and says," Hey bitch.. lets see what that over priced piece of shit can do." and begins revving his engine. The light turns green and he peels out. That's 2.

Speed limit is 35 and he is doing about 50+. That's 3. The next light turns red and we end up next to each other again. Once again I get the verbal abuse. Driver: "Come on bitch. I will smoke your ass." The Passenger: "What a fucking pussy." I turn to them and said," You never know.. there might be cops around." Not sure who said it but I heard " Fuck the police". The light turns red and he burns out again. That's 4.

My bluetooth goes off and its my partner working beat. I roll up my window and answer my phone. I have him a description of the car and he said he was ready. Light turns green and he sees my partner who has his unit sticking out behind a safeway store and right when he passed my buddy lit his ass up. He pulls over and I pull in behind my buddy and put on my bullet proof vest that was in my trunk.

As my partner backed me up, I went up to the car and identified myself as the police and both of them were in shock. I got his driver license, registration, and insurance. He didn't say anything. I grabbed one of my buddy's cites n hit him up for speeding, exhibition of speed- 2 counts, tinted driver and passenger side windows, and Exhaust. As I filled out the cite I told my buddy to take them out of the car and to tell the driver that his car was getting towed as well.

I went up to the driver and explained to him what I was citing him for and that the Exhibition of Speed was a misdemeanor though we weren't going to arrest him but his car was now mine. He broke down and started to cry!!! Started whimpering and saying " I have finals tomorrow sir! How am I going to get to work?" "Please don't take my car!" The kid was 18 years old and he had to call his dad to pick him up. Needless to say the dad wasn't happy. Tow truck came and took the car. Pretty much he's going to have to pay around 400 bucks to get the car back.

I felt no pity. So lesson is, don't go picking races with people because you never know who you might run into. This kid learned the hard way.

good job. thats how all cops should be. get those scumbags off the street. it would be nice if you book him for assault, and the use of a car as a weapon.

OP, I just recentely traded in my G for the 335, but still frequent the off topic section of G35driver.com. Only reason why I found this section was because someone there posted your story. Just want to let you know, that you're getting praises from that board too. Not becuase of your personal attitude towards enforcement of traffic violations, but your steadfastness and great use of discretion. This kid had it coming, no matter what car he was driving. As a prelaw student myself, I appluad you for a job well done.
