Tales of your wife driving your M3?

Hey Guys, My wife occasionally drives my M3 when our other car is in the shop or I need the Jeep for business. When she drives it she always gets a kick out of the attention. She had some guys in "some sort of Acura" (her description) try to race her and give her a 'thumbs up'. And she has guys in other sports cars trying to talk to her about the car frequently. I think guys are suprised to see a girl driving the car. She isnt a car person at all and always thinks its the funniest/strangest thing that people chase her down to talk to her. Just curious if any of you guys with wives have had related experiences.

And yeah...yeah... I fully expect to get the "My wife isnt allowed to drive my M3" responses

My wife drives the M everyday to work and yes she gets weird looks from the garage attendants as well as anybody who sees her in it. Love the perceived irony of seeing my wife in my badass ride and think others appreciate that as well and no, my wife isn't a car person but i think the kids are coming around

Funny, day after I got the car she left it idling at her work for 6 hours. She called me when she walked out to the car and said "Did you remotely start the car for me". Long story short she took the key but didn't press the off button. She can drive manual though.

x2...kinda glad also. Last time she tried to back up from my driveway with her SUV, she hit the M on the rear door. $1,000 later in repairs she looks twice before backing up now.

There are exceptions, but I see a trend that 6MT is teh way to go. My wife was impressed with the attention she got.

Yeah this is exactly it for me. Especially if you have some aftermarket stuff on the car:

love riding with my 18 year old sister in her Audi S5, guys can't believe its hers. in fact, i was the one who negotiated the deal when we bought it. after we signed the papers and i handed the key to her the salesman said "why are you letting your sister drive your new car home?" they had no clue the car was for her even though she was the one to test drive it.

My wife will no LONGER drive the M after her first attempt ended with me finding her softly sobbing to herself when it wouldn't let her shift into "D"

...apparently the picture of a "foot on a brake" that pops up on the dash isn't clear enough.

I don't mind though

I get to offer for her to drive it all the time knowing she won't say yes

I gave her a key but she knows a wife should never meet your mistress.

I have DCT too. My wife knows DCT is different than a standard automatic, when it comes to putting it in gear. I have offered countless times to show her how to drive it. She refuses on the grounds that if there is even the slightest chance of her messing something up, I would be furious. I tell her otherwise, but she doesn't buy it. I also think she's just too intimidated by the car. She's rather short, and piloting the M3 is not really for the timid.

My wife prefers her '02 M3 (6MT) to my '11 M3 (6MT), so she drives her car. I've offered to trade, but she likes her E46.

I let my gf drive it whenever she asks for it. It's our only "nice" car as we own two older e36 and an e30 and she may ask for the car once a month at most. She drives it like a champ and I completely trust her. Plus any woman who drives 3 pedals is extra hot. Anyway one time she took the car to the casino with one of her girlfriends and I gave her 1 instruction. DO NOT VALET THE CAR!! Needless to say I didn't find our about my scratched wheel until a few days later. It was on the passenger side and it was very small but it still sucks. I asked her if she valet the car and she said yeah the parking garage was full. (which does happen at MGM detroit a lot) I wish I could have proved it was the valet guys. I wonder if they would have repaired my finish.
