I am reading this on the same day that I drove past a traffic fatality, lying still on the side of the road- while his Pontiac Grand Prix sat just a few feet away with seemingly minor damage. The body was uncovered, and I couldn't help but rubberneck and view the gruesome sight...something I usually have little tolerance for in others.
You walked away from an event that ultimately only involved broken plastic, metal, and some leather. Take it, learn from it, and start over. Glad you are okay. |

I know just how you feel. Read that other thread I just posted a couple days ago about my accident (with pics). Sometimes we over-estimate our abilities and put ourselves in the wrong situations. Live and learn!
Glad you're okay. That accident is far worse than mine. |

I had a similar crash in a Supra TT back in the day. The only difference was, my car was upside down and the split phone poll slowed me down enough so that the eventual big ass tree I hit didn't do as much damage. It's a miracle I survived that, and I felt equally awful and stupid about it. It's certainly made me a more careful driver.
It also changed me in other ways that put me down the path of life I'm in now. Which is not a bad thing as I've done well for myself. Your reaction is humble, which is good. Sometimes it all works out for the better.

That's fair. I was thinking of analyzing what happened so that other drivers can learn from a mistake that most of us can make.

Whoa damn dude. Very happy that you aren't injured. Don't like reading about crashed M3s, but it's infinitely better than reading about a fatality.

Its just a car. A good one but a car nevertheless. It does take a man to admit he was wrong and a better one to apologize but that was too much. You didn't rape an alter boy, you made a mistake. BMW engineers and employees...? C'mon man, way too much. You screwed up and had the good fortune to keep the cost of your lesson limited to financial loss. It happens. You learn from it and move on. You got a good drunk with the boys in the bank on this one and thats about it. No more waa waa. Save that for when something bad actually happens.

Really glad that you were okay and that you were with a group, of sorts. Also, it take a lot of humility to confess this to everyone, so you have my respect.

Pretty incredible how the power line was severed. Glad to hear that you're ok, that's what's important.

I'm glad your ok man. And I'm very sad to see this. But ultimately like I said very glad your ok and that's what really matters. My advice would be to delete this entire thread before your insurance company does find out. And figure out what to do privately. Your insurance company can use this thread against you. You don't want that.

Way to stand up and take responsibility, OP! I hear of so many "accidents" that were no accident at all - simply more car than skill. Get another one, and then take several BMW CCA schools to learn better car control. Be sure they use a skidpad. Learn to drive it well and enjoy it safely. And when you get really aggressive with it, do it wearing a helmet and with trained drivers around you.

Saam, I know exactly what your going through, and in time you will be able to get beyond this. Good people make mistakes, and the important things are: no one got hurt, and you are clearly mature enough to take responsibility for what happened, and man enough to acknowledge you want to improve your driving skills.
Now let the insurance company do what they do, and get back in the game.... albeit smarter and wiser. I know I am. |

Glad no bodily harm done.
Just a question, if insurance company feels that incident was due to "reckless road racing", are they still obligated to pay out? |
