The "shift up blinker" is part of BMW's Efficient Dynamics Program. It tells you when you should shift to which gear by showing an arrow and the right gear! This is featured in alomst every BMW from now on. Best regards, south |

"even a shift-up blinker (for the planet, not the engine’s sake)"
Sounds like a fuel economy help. Like shifting from 1st to 3rd in ideal conditions. The only thing is the computer is calculating the "ideal conditions". |

I understand all that, and I am all for fuel efficiency (see my posts in the 11mpg thread). Regardless it would still be very annoying to be reminded of this or that when driving a performance car.

Yes, nobody buys an M3 for fuel economy, but that doesn't mean that performance car designers should not care about effiecienty at all (my point on the other thread was that efficiency and performance actually go hand in hand in many cases but not all).

Great review and very well written. It sounds like this person knows what they are talking about, and not just because most of it was positive. He sounds very passionate about cars. It's a shame about the steering, although I find it hard to believe it's as appalling as it is made out to be. Maybe something will get adjusted soon, or a year in.
