I've heard of this happening before. The judge is the law and if he says you can take traffic school to remove your point, you can do it even if it is multiple times.
I just spoke with someone from the National Traffic Safety institute about level 2 traffic school and she told me I need to go back to see the judge and specifically ask permission to attend a level 2 traffic school which is offered both online and in classroom.

From what I heard is that although the judg emay grant you traffic school, the DMV will not recognize it and will not erase the point. But since you say that you had no points, that's very interesting

Hmm, keep us posted! I dunno what happened in my case. People have all sorts of stories about traffic law and courts. It's interesting to see what happens as no two cases are the same.

I feel for you man. When I get my car, I'm so hitting the tunnel through the presidio and then the broadway tunnel at chinatown!

I'll be sure to be careful!

Hey all, I'm the OP and my court date is now Jan 23, 2012 for the 2 tickets mentioned in my OP. I just picked up a 3rd ticket (red light in SF) and will fight that one in April 2012. Having said that, I could use a good traffic lawyer.

Please feel free to point me to someone you may know that I can hire.

3 times unlucky!

Thanks

I feel ya man, I just received my first ticket last saturday on 101 norhtbound. Fun times...
on a positive note, I asked the officer to reduce my speed. was doing 86 when caught, and he reduced it to 80 because of the holidays.
apparently I did not know this, but over 85 and you cannot do traffic school.

Was it a SFPD cruiser that pulled you over (vs motorcycle)...check if they have dash cameras, if they do subpena the tape and see for yourself what the cop saw/did not see on the unsafe lane change/not signaling ticket.

I saw a cop get caught up in court like that...caught in a blatant lie, tape showed defendant used blinker (on a red light right hand turn). Cop then 'consulted' his notes and said...the blinker was not on long enough before the turn...guess what "GUILTY". Its all about revenue, there is no justice in traffic court...you can "buy" a "not guilty" by having a lawyer represent you, then the judge gives em the professional courtesy of hearing the case fairly or throwing it out if you picked the right lawyer with the right connections.

Not so sure about this... I got a ticket for 86 (and the cop wrote 86 on the ticket). I was able to take traffic school. This was a couple years ago though. Maybe this is a new thing?
