Eisenmann Exhaust Dis-Coloration

This thread is going out to the Eisenmann Exhaust owner. Does your exhaust get dis-colored through heat? IND said this is normal and can be polished. If so, will polish thoroughly remove the dis-coloration? Thank you

I borrowed the pictures from a past post and I hope the owner doesn't mind.

Yep, polish will take care of that. I polish mine by hand every 6 months and still looks brand new.

Might need a wool pad on a buffer if its that bad. I personally never seen one with that much discoloration.

After cleaning it with an all purpose cleaner (I use poorboys) I then use Never Dull, Wenol or even Mother's metal polish. All work well.

Like anything, if you maintain it then the longer it will look great.

That will polish out..... It is just oxidation and is only on the surface, the metal itself is not discolored!

Id get it powdercoated gloss black and leave the tips chrome. Just me tho...

I used Never Dull yesterday and it didn't get everything off. I might have to work into it more to take off the oxidation. But I think Never Dull is not powerful enough. I'll polish it next to see if that will help.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Even just painted; it's look the same, and cost $5 . Just use high-temp flat black paint, AND sand it with 400-grit sandpaper first. Oh, and you'd only do it once, rather than every 6 months. That's what I did with my stock muffler, by the way. Good luck.

Err... it's on top of the muffler, why would you care? it's not like you can see it off the car...

Heat discoloration.... looks race-car like. Leave it. Yeah polishing it with any polish or rubbing compound but it returns once the muffler heats up....

The M3 exhausts get exceptionally hot. Muffler canisters can but a bit of a golden hue from the heat. Youll notice that many exhaust tips will do the same. You can see the gold hue inside the tips as well in this customers photos. It happens on many exhausts for the M3. You can hit the tips or can with a fine steel wool inside the tips or a good metal polish to take the patina off from time to time

Right on the money.

I went the easier route and I completely powdercoated the rear section of my exhaust so that it wouldn't get discolored, but also just for looks

I actually just helped a friend go an even less expensive route... At Autozone you can get high temp caliper paint, and he went with like a wrinkle finish on the exhaust. It needs to cure before you put it back on, so we ran it across with a torch
