Lux Angel Eyes install assistance needed

I'm in need of help installing a set of Lux Angel Eyes in my E92 Coupe. My hands are too big to twist the LED housing into place.

I'd greatly appreciate some assistance.

Thanks.

Stupid fat white guy hands.

I know what you mean. I looked like an f-n street fighter with all my cuts and scrapes on both hands.

Good luck.

Had my gf with the tiniest hands install mine in 2 minutes

Try and hold it with pliers or something so you can lower it in?

I can get the bulb positioned in the hole, but can't get my fingers around it to lock it in place. Anybody with small hands in Seattle care to help? Beer could be involved.

Use your two index finger like chop sticks to hold it in place and slowly twist the bulb to lock. That is how I install my lux after 30 min playing with it.

They need a better design for sure. The OEM bulb is so easy to install but the LUX are a pain in the butt. It took me forever to do mine when I first got them. Then one of my LUX power supplies failed 2 months out of warranty and I had to get it repaired and fight to get it in all over again. Just take your time on it and I am sure you will get there eventually .

BTW: My car had less than 9000 miles on it when one of the LUX failed 14 months later. I hope others have better luck than I did.

If you still need help installing them, I can do it. It's a pain in the ass, and I have a scar on my knuckle from doing my own, but I'd be willing to help if you still need it. I'm not a big beer drinker (although my fiance is), but could always use Starbucks

Lux Angel Eyes install assistance needed

Hey Chris,

Here's a "tab alignment" tip that might help. I found aligning the LUX H8 tabs properly took most of my install time--even more than twisting the LUX H8 into place.

After making sure I checked the positions of the three tabs when taking out the OEM bulb, I noted which of the two colored wires attached to the LUX H8 happened to be closest to the position of the upward-most tab. This simple mental note cut down on the number of my failed attempts to secure the tabs into their rightful slots within the lens assembly.

Of course, as cited by many, twisting the LUX H8 into place is a challenge without small fingers. Here, I found using the tips of both my index fingers worked best once I positioned the tabs correctly.

I figured out the tab alignment, my hands are just too big to twist the fixture in place. Lindsay has graciously offered to help.

My hands look like I just tried fisting a mama bear. I was almost to the point of calling my friend that is drastically smaller than me to see if he could do it.

I feel your pain. It took me an hour to figure out how to install them. Then one of the units failed a few months later conveniently out of warranty.

I gave up on Lux Angel Eyes and and went with yellow bulbs instead. I think they look more unique than blue LEDs and are simple to install.

Moving forward, I'm not going to replace these with LED lights. I'm just going to do some bright white PIAA's or something and call it a day. What a pain in the ass. Then to come to realize that to do this properly, I have to jack up the car, remove wheel, remove the fender liner to access it properly.

It's ridiculous that BMW released these cars knowing that you have to undo like 15 bolts and jack up a car in order to replace lights. No one protested? Nein! Scheint legitime!

Lux install help

Just ordered the lux h8 v4 for my e92. I was told I can install them myself but between not being very handy with cars and probably won't fit my hand in there, can any one in the DMV area help? Or know any local shops that can/know how to install them without charging an arm and a leg? I was quoted for $400 to install them which is crazy and I don't think they understand these are plug and play. Please let me know, thanks!

$400? that's crazy! You can do it, just need patience. It's going to take a lot of twist and turns unless you get lucky with just one twist.
