Arrow Macht Schnell Stage 2 Intake DYNO NUMBERS + VIDEO

I know there is a lot of discrepancy on the forums as to whether an aftermarket intake system can actually make power on our cars. Many intake systems have promised increased power but have fallen short of their numbers or have actually caused a decrease in overall power. This has led to a lot of people bashing full intake systems and claiming a drop in filter is best...

Recently I purchased the newest version of the Macht Schnell Stage 2 Intake from EAS and voiced my concern about actual power gains.
Tom and Steve decided there was no better way to prove the power gains to me than to strap my car on the in house dyno and do some runs.

My car is a 2011 E92 DCT running 91 octane gas. Previous modifications: BMC drop in filter, MS Underdrive Pullies, modded stock exhaust.

The dyno runs were done on a nice hot and humid day. The temp in the shop never fell below 95 degrees. The car was allowed to cool in between runs.

The car gained about 10-12 horsepower and about 5-10 pounds of torque. These gains in power are the MS Stage 2 versus the drop in BMC filter. This is proof that the Macht Schnell Stage 2 Intake makes more power than the stock intake system and more importantly more power than a drop in filter alone.

The power gains are noticeable all throughout the power band and I am very happy with the results. The intake noise is very intoxicating and when you are at WOT near redline it sounds like the engine may possibly suck in cats/small children.

I would like to give a big thank you to Tom, Steve, and all the other people over at EAS. I have had nothing but excellent experiences at your shop and you have made me a lifelong customer.

awesome results! I'll definitely be getting the stage 2 intake from Macht Schnell.

I want your hood btw.. I had the 335i vented version on my 335i before I just parted it out 2 weeks ago. I loved it.. It must have been my favorite exterior mod besides my oss angels.

You won't be disappointed with the intake, trust me

I love my hood too, it really made the car a lot more aggressive

Not bad at all. Any way to boost the torque numbers with tuning?

Awesome, I may have to get this! So there was a noticeable change in induction sound?

I also got my MS Stage 2 from EAS put in at their store front about 2 days ago and I can tell the difference in the engine note. It's music to my hears...at WOT. You can even hear it as you accelerate and let it rev into the 4-6k rpm range. Very nice sounding and I can tell the power difference.

Great review! Thank you for providing reliable and accurate dyno results too!!

Once again, this goes to show that great work of EAS and Macht Schnell.

Honestly, I can't hear it on mine. I had an injen DCI on my 335 and I miss that sweet, sweet induction sound when you went WOT. With this it's more noticeable in the exhaust as it adds a sharpness to the note for sure... wish I would have made a comparison video. Either way, I'm happy with my purchase

That difference could come from just replacing a dirty BMC filter for a new clean one...

To the OP...

Was the replaced BMC filter clean when you switched? How many miles on it?

Always skeptical when the same shop selling the product is the one doing the dyno. Reason I got an exhaust was so the engine sound wouldn't overpower it @ high RPM's. Guess that's just me though -

Is that MS filter oiled or dry? Due to its color and wash-ability I am assuming it is oiled. I would like to see what the MS charge pipe and the stock filter would produce.

The Macht Schnell Stage 2 Intake kit comes with an oiled filter.

Colors/legend could be much more clear. Initially it looked like each color should have one descriptor in the lower right legend area. However, it became clear that the descriptors are for all of those runs.

Is the difference between the average of the runs with and average without intake, 10 hp, 12 hp or something else?

It appears that the without runs show a 10 hp spread and runs with a 4 hp spread.

Thus, most importantly you can't exactly claim a true gain equal to the measurement variation...

I'm certainly not sold on a 10 or 12 hp gain.

Appreciate the feedback!

The BMC filter that was originally on was relatively clean and free of debris. Rapture's car simply kept making power dyno pull after dyno pull once the S2 was installed.

Exhaust and a tune would result in even higher power gains.

I feel the increase in induction noise was very noticeable, especially at part open to 3/4 throttle in the lower RPM range

The BMC filter had about 5k miles on it and was pretty clean.

I was skeptical as well but the dyno never lies, especially as I was watching the numbers being put down in real time.

No problem, Tom! I think my car may break into the 400HP club with a full exhaust system and a tune.

Maybe Tom can post up individual dyno graphs to help show the power gains.
Both on the dyno and driving on the streets the increase in power is linear and all across the power band.
