Aquaplanning with Michelin Super Sport tyres

Half a year later the car was totaled in a similar incident. DSC never kicked in despite it was on (not MDM). The tyres where less than a week old.

The crash was exactly like this one LINK HERE but thankfully wiht wire fence (made to crash into) so it was elastic and the car did not roll over but spun 360 degrees and was a total loss.

Take it easy guys :I

have michelin pilot S tires on mine - the car is borderline scary to drive in even moderate moisture.

any throttle at all and the wheels spin and the tail kicks out . . . no fun

Verry strange...i also run PSS an have good traction in the wet, but in extreem conditions, with a lot of water on the road ,and at to high speeds every profile get filled with water....result....water on water, we call it aquaplanning...then you need good luck.
Second opportunity...used profile...with the same result !!!

I've been driving all winter (including down to -7.5C on untreated icy roads) on PSS's at near the wear markers and live to tell the tale. Its not that difficult to drive within the limit of the grip available...anyone who drives at a speed in wet conditions that puts them at risk of aquaplaning should think of maybe taking some extra driving tuition.

Any tire with low tread will aquaplane .
Be it PSS that come brand new with 4mm of tread , or bald piece of shit tires.

PSSs come with the same ~8mm of tread as the PS2 or Contis or whatever.

The tires were less than a week old...that might have some bearing on the situation as they might not have rubbed off the mold release compound or be fully heat cycled

Maybe your thinking of the pilot sport cup tyres which come with 4mm of tread when they are new. The pilot super sport have 8mm.
