59,500 is what i want to squeeze out of him. Did not get that yet. But 60,500 is what he wants....

I called him 20 min ago and asked. He specified, the car is BRAND NEW (caps representing his intonation).

Dunno guys, we'll see. I will let you know
are you gonna ruin your happiness over 1k, if you have this kind of cash you have 1k extra, and if not you shouldn't be driving a M3

pick up the car and have fun, that's what life's about. be lucky your looking at an M3 and not some 1984 honda for 1k

$500 for AW paint?!?! AW paint is free because it's not metallic.

Also, here is the true breakdown of "invoice." Also, please correct me if I'm wrong as I'm going by the wholesale pricing sheet (and what my BMW center had).

Base Price: 53,400 not 53,200
Tech Pkg: 2,960
Prem Pkg: 1,820
iPod and USB: 365
Cold Pkg: 685
Leather: 865 not 500

AND also included in the price before TTL:

Dest & Handling: 825
Gas Guzzler Tax: 1,300
MACO Fee: 300

Total before TTL: 62,530

Getting this car if it is brand new for 59,500 OTD is wishful thinking IMO. I don't mean to kill your awesome deal but just looking at the numbers the dealer would be losing a good chunk of money. You figure OTD with TTL would bring you close to 70k.

Sounds like he is trying to get you to the dealer and is hoping he can "work" you into the sale.

Maybe get him to write something official saying he is willing to sell you the car for 60,500 OTD and fax it over to you. Make sure he breaks down every single thing you are being charged for. I doubt he'll do this but it's worth a shot right?

Hope this helps.

It sounds like the dealer is offering a price before TTL, which would be $2,000 below invoice. This would make perfect sense, if the dealer is getting $3,000 of "dealer cash" from BMW, which some web sites claim is in effect since July 1 on new 09s. Assuming this is the case, the dealer would be earning $1,000 on the sale.

I totally agree.

And I wouldn't haggle for an additional $500 rebate on a $60K-$70K car.

dealers make money regardless if the sell you the car at invoice (about a 3-4% kickback under the invoice price); however, you have to look at the other end of the spectrum and realize that they can make a killing selling at msrp. i paid over $500 invoice with no complaint because i know my CA has bills to pay too.

alright, so here's some form of an update...i didnt get a chance to go to the dealership that had the car i wanted this weekend. But i did end up passing by Habberstad in Long island. They had a Jerez Black e92 6MT with tech package, speed cloth, 19" rims, heated seats and Ipod integration and moonroof. The car looked good. Started talking to the sa, and we were able to bring it down to 60,700 including GGT and destination. I walked away but if anyone's interested in jumping on that one...its an FYI. Problem is, the car left the factory in Oct of 08 and has been sitting on the lot for 6 months. The breakpads are a little rusted and there is some minor wear'n'tear on the paint. I figured a car like that they would try to pawn off as fast as possible, but not so fast apparently. I am going to talk turkey with the nj dealer about he AW car and will let you know how much of a scam is it (an attempt to get me to come over)

I plan to do M3 ED 2010 and I want to get DCT but am not sure with the DCT lag threads here. So I may go 6MT. Any wisdom on the lag issue. I did search the site and have been told by dealers they never heard of this lag issue.
