Angel Eye burned out (OEM)

My driver side Angel Eye is out, I am having trouble finding a part number for the bulb. I was on tischer, but all I found was Light Ring under the front headlight, wasnt sure if that was it. I thought we had bulbs for our angel eyes. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

No big deal. It's just a 35W H8 bulb. You can buy them anywhere. Or just go to BMW dealer to get a free replacement.

Angel eyes burnt out? I had the same problem and was told that it would cost close to a grand to replace! The dealer said that the whole unit comes as one piece and that there are no bulbs inside. Just a fiber optic ring that cannot be replaced. My ca was at Tischer at the time getting body work done from my garage door incident. Luckily it was paid by insurance and it did cause the total damage to go up by $1000.

That diagram is for the HEADLIGHTS, right? Not the Angel eyes?

If the bulb is out then go aftermarket. close to the same price and you'll have something nicer.
The GPThunders work well and last a long time.
My stock bulb went out twice. (one on each side)

The angel eyes are part of the headlights. There are bulbs that illuminate the fiber obtic rings inside of the headlights. You can switch out that $5 bulb in under 30 seconds. $1000

Your're right, there is a bulb. Perhaps there was something wrong with the Fiber optic ring, in that case the whole unit may need to be replaced. In any regards, I would just take it to the dealer and let them worry about it, since it is under warranty, Right OP?

Could be...but it's unlikely that something that doesn't move is somehow broken.

You're right I wondered that myself, perhaps the sudden change in temperatures during winter at startup at night when the lights come on immediately. Mine did do it in late December. Anyway, If mine are gonna blow I hope it does it during the warranty period and not after.

Actually those are cheaper than OEM lol. Any issues with these, I remember reading some statements about kits melting the ring, but I think that was only HID conversions.

If you get 55W bulbs, you run the risk of overheating the internals. Same goes for some HID conversions. 12V 35W are absolutely safe.

Yeah, i looked up the thunders and on EAS's website they say 55W on other websites they say 35W. So not sure which it is?

GP Thunders come in both 35W and 55W versions. I would just stick to the OEM rating of 35W.

Yeah I did, I have seen too many people in the past on other cars regretting pushing any extra wattage on bulbs. I dont like things melting

Those are the dealers that 'force' people like me to do our own service, even when it's included .

Anyway, get $20 GPThunders in either 7500 or 8500 (look the same), and you'd get white light, rather than yellow. Order them online. And yes, stick with 35W MAX. The reason they go out quickly is lack of ventilation in there. If you put a 55W bulb, you'd melt everything in there, and THEN you'd need a new $1K headlight housing. Oh, and there's nothing 'fiber optic' about the DLRs folks (just because a car has 4 wheels doesn't make it a race car, right?).

'The same'? Really? A fiber optic cable bleeds light thru the tube? You wouldn't have any light left at the end of the tube, which is where you need it . Plus our angel eyes don't have an 'end', so could never be used as fiber optic. The concept has some SIMILARITY to fiber optics, but it's hardly the same. And that was exactly my point. A race car is more similar to a regular car than an angel eye to a fiber optic cable, but you shouldn't call an M3 a race car . Have a great day.

Just found this thread as my driver side angel eye burned out (seems to be quite common for the stock bulbs). About to pull the trigger on the e90 lighting product, but just wanted to check a couple things first:

1. This is just for the running day angel eye part, right? My headlights actually still work.

2. Is this product only for e92s? I have an e90. I assume they are the same?

3. no experience, based on what I've seen and used (AiB), Lux is preferred bulb kit without going HIDs. Others may have different thoughts.

HA! 1000$! You just pop off the cover on your head light housing and replace the 5 dollar h8 bulb. Lol. Takes 2 minutes.
