Lol, yes it's good power, especially for our platform, but there will be cars at the airstrip event that will make mine look like it's not even moving.

The motor can handle more boost but we are pretty sure we have maxed out the limits of the stock DCT. We have added an additional 300 HP to the stock drivetrain at this point and without additional upgrades there is no need to push it further as our chance for failure on the OEM hardware is already much higher at this power level.

Insane car! Much love and respect to Drew and the boys @ ESS Tuning for pushing the limits of the E9x M3 platform to heights we never imaged were possible. Keep up the impressive innovations

So its safe to say, if MT then you can increase boost to 12-17PSI? I know the supporting mods, fuel, suspension would need to be modified, but the achilles heal in this is the DCT?

I just want to see this thing kill some high HP cars.

Very impressive numbers indeed. I'm also impressed to see the Stock DCT is handling this level of power.

The transmission is more succeptible to an excess of torque rather than an excess of power. This is how transmissions are rated by the OEMs after all. Either way this car is exceeding the torque limit for the transmission as well which is (if stock) 443 ft lb (600 Nm).

Do you use the oem transmission fluid in the DCT ,
When the GT-R was new they had a lot of DCT failures caused by the transmission oil, ( it did get destroyed if the temperature passed app 120 Celsius) and the clutches was burned.
Now they have a series of special oil see. http://www.willallracing.com.au/lubricants.htm
The reason i am asking is because i totaled my M3 and just bought a new one with DCT.

I use OEM fluid, I'm not going to mess with anything new in this transmission until something is actually proven for a good # of miles.

The revised version of the same tranny in the F10M5 is stronger and good for over 550 lbs tq, when you decide you want more. I would think you will need a blower upgrade as well to a T if not a YSi Trim.

Excellent points, I have no plans to upgrade or change the blower.

Have you bumped your head? As long as I have known you, you've always wanted more in your cars. Come-on now rip that thing out and slap larger blower in there.

Transmissions are only affected by torque, not horsepower, since torque is the force that the clutch packs have to deal with. Transmissions really don't care about high horsepower numbers.

I agree with that in theory... on a dyno where the tires are loaded evening yes. But in real life, on a race track with various road conditions there has to be peaks and valleys to the torque load where it's not just the engine and drivetrain dictating the load. The weight of a car, bumps and dips on the road could possible spike the torque load beyond spec.

well that is because hp is a measure of the rate of work being done not a force like torque.
