I need an opinion on sc my m3

Sorry guys but I bet many people asked this question or needed a suggestion but unfortunately I'm tore between sc and not sc my e90 m3.. First off I've had two e90 m3s and I wanted to sc them from day one and never did.. I was afraid of blowing the motor more than anything lol ok now my dilemma is that people said do it and some people said not too bc it's the last n/a M and blah blah blah.. idk what I will do about buying the f80 I want it but have other things going on right now just bought a house and we are doing work on it so that must wait a little.. So my question is do you guys think it's worth sc for maybe a year or two and then buying the m? If I buy it? I might even just keep this car bc I still love it just hate that it's a pig lol.. I'll be tracking the car very little maybe maybe twice a year if even that.. Love to hear your feedback guys Negative things positive things anything thanks!!

It's worth the money, especially if you can get one lightly used. I have the 550 kit from ESS on my DD and it is money well spent. The car is a lot quicker/more responsive and really no downsides I have seen (unlike many of the other mods I have done, which all seem to have trade offs - Ex lowered suspension, bigger wheels/tires, louder exhaust, etc). My only recommendation is that if you think you are going to keep the car for a while, go for the biggest kit you can find. The 550 kit is awesome for the daily driver and priced right...it is rare that I get to test its limits...but some days I dream of the 650 kit.

I had the same dilemma. I have a supercharged M3 and I wanted to possibly get myself into a f8x M3/4. After driving the f8x I am still in love with my Supercharged m3. The sound and the drivability is so different. Yes the new car deal is cool, but all the computers of the f8x just turned me off. With how prices are on used kits, I would very much consider it.

As long as you don't spin a bearing its well worth it. Id of sold my M years ago if it was still stock engine, just lacks the needed grunt.
That being said I also just spun my bearings, even after swapping them out for new. So now engine is being fully rebuilt/stroked.

My Best Friend bought a F80 M3 in 2014, sat in it, didn't like how big it felt or the noise it made. Sure it was fast.

I put in the order for the SC within the next week. Now the only problem I am facing now is to find a replacement car. I haven't been able to find a car that I like now that I have an SC M3...

I have had this debate for a while until I decided not to supercharge it. You should do more research and you will see 90% of the supercharged owners sold the kit within the first 5000 miles on it. If this doesn't tell you something, then what else would?

Also the kit will generate more stress to the high compression engine. If you want more power then you should consider a car that is already built for that purpose.

Not to forget your car will depreciate more in value compared to stock ones. Ask yourself this, would you buy an M3 knowing that the car has been previously supercharged.

I, too, noticed that a lot of the kits get sold within a few thousand miles. I also keep seeing more and more SC M3 issues popping up on the forums...some of them minor, but still. I think I'm gonna pass on the SC as much as I would love the extra power. If I find myself absolutely needing it, then I'll just have to switch platforms....likely something like the new turbo C63....

That is just plain not true. Yes there are people that sell used superchargers but almost all of them are due to selling/turning in the car. I doubt you can find more than a few people who sold the kits because they weren't happy with the performance and wanted to go back to stock. You almost always get more money from selling used parts off the car than as a package with the car.

You could be correct about resale value of the car but I plan on keeping my car for a long time and I enjoy it much more with the supercharger than without - it is a huge difference and is totally worth it.

Take my advise - if buying a new kit, go for the Harrop and BPM tune.

If buying the kit you are currently evaluating used - still get the BPM tune.

I have the same kit you are looking at, and now wish I would have purchased the Harrop. More low end TQ for daily driving, less maintenance, and better looking fit/finish IMO.

Retain the stock air box with the Harrop too.

I have owned my M3 since 2012 drove it stock for a year and a half and went with ESS 650 kit. I friend of mine has an M4 and I have driven it a lot and I just can't get over how short they rev. toro is massive but I just get a kick out of that 8600 red line, this M is a keeper for me. I think I'm skipping the F8x platform.

Plus I pull away from that M4 very easily.

I personally would not do that until I knew I was ready to part with money. I was a passenger in one only once and there is nothing worse than your car suddenly feeling like a pig. In this case, I'd rather be fat dumb and happy until there is money to satisfy the OCD like craving that could develop. If that is not how you function, then yes, expose yourself to some SC cars.

Also, take into account which SC would put less stress on your engine.

I know bro I was thinking the same thing that might be dangerous to get a ride in a sc car lol which system has the least strain on the motor? I heard the Ess is the best for that reason?

They both drag on the crank. They both run relatively low boost. A VT650 kit runs more boost than a Harrop but the Harrop makes boost so much sooner that you will be in boost more with the Harrop. On the other hand, you will have more power at lower rpm with the Harrop so maybe you will feel less need to run to redline. Probably about equal.
