Anyone running the AA Rear Exhaust?
I've seen the videos of the exhaust, i think it looks good, But i was wondering what are the thoughts on the exhaust from people that have actually ran it on there car.
Any real performance gains, sound as nice as in the videos, quality, worth it? Im thinking about picking up a mint used AA exhaust, and cant really afford to buy a New $3000+exhaust, that's why im asking. Or do you guys think im better off spending the money on a BMP Tune? Thanks |

AA Exhausts are one of the more desirable exhausts on the forums. You could find a used one from 1.5-1.8k in great condition. I personally think they sound and look great. They are aggressive, but not obnoxious. AA definitely makes a quality product as well. |

AA was my first exhaust and I absolutely loved it. There is a bassy tone down low, but everyone (gf included) loved the sound of my car.
Once I added the x-pipe there was simply too much drone which wore me down over time. I switched to the Dinan rear and now have the Akra. All three sounded amazing, but the Akra quality is truly a piece of art.

I'm running it with a catless x pipe. Love it....best sounding exhaust out there that you can still live with on a day to day basis. I've heard some other setups that do sound better but they just have way too much drone for my daily driver. AA really hits the sweet spot.

Test pipes + BPM Tune + used exhaust should come well under $3000. My setup was around 2k

I had one for a couple of weeks. Quality exhaust, great smooth high pitch when getting on it but it droned too much for me to tolerate in the lower RPM's. It would be nice if those NCC's kicked in right away, unfortunately they don't.

Everything else stock. It drones on low rpm's but the NCC's do a great job of eliminating drone up high. Stop and go traffic really sucked with the AA for me.

I have had my AA with a Dinan x pipe for three years now and love it. Very little drone until you come to a rolling stop or light acceleration from a stop. Keep wanting to switch the axel back but I just love this sound combination too much. Very nice sounding under WOT and gives off great downshifts as well as an incredible sound around 4500-5k RPM.
Granted I have a 4.10 so the drone is never a factor on highway speeds or around town becuase of the slight RPM raise. I love it and get so many compliments from people where I live. |

In my opinion, the rear section of the exhaust should be the first mod done. I know that you won't yield much in gains, but the sound of the stock exhaust is very weak. Also, it will give you more time to get used to car. You'll notice the increase in HP from other mods later on. I think most cars are the same. It was my first mod on my S4 as well even when a tune leads to 90+ more HP for about half the cost.

I just put their rear section on my car. Sounds very close to stock but louder. There is a bit of a bassy boom from 2300-3000rpm that I haven't really decided if I like it yet but after that it just is louder stock. Overall it was exactly what I wanted bc it doesn't drone or interfere at hwy speeds from 70-80+mph, just a bit in the 2k rpm range, and retains the BMW sound rather then turning the car into an obnoxious truck like I feel the meisterschaft and gintani do.

I installed the AA axle back about a week ago and have no regrets! Sounds orgasmic at idle and low speeds up to 2.5k rpm or so then it goes almost stock sounding for higher speeds so perfect for DD. So between the great sound and looks "anything better than oem stainless steel diper hanging out of car" id say its a winner unless you want super loud.

Have/had both. AA exhaust + xpipe w/hfc + bpm = intoxicating noises and very responsive car

I ran the full AA Signature Exhaust (AA Axel Back + AA X-Pipes w/HFC's and AA) for a couple years on my first E92 M3 and absolutely loved the way the car sounded and performed....you wont be disappointed with the look, sound and performance. I'm on my second M3 and if it didnt come with dealer installed Akra...then I wouldve had the same combo on it!
But having owned both exhausts (Akra and AA) you cant go wrong with either and both have a very distinctive sound both at low and high RPM's that you'd enjoy.

Adigerati has a few vids from good perspectives of the AA axel back only. No standing revs and wot.
It is plenty loud to me. http://youtu.be/C7ix6LysN84 |
