Yep ... Took my wife to test drive the M3 and she said "buy it" took about 1 minute of convincing!

Well, the criticism is just deserved....I won't spend much time clarifying. But I will say that there was some boat ownership and hauling needs in those years that moved us to the SUV world.

My current Diesel is damn near V8 power and the X5 is (for me) much more ed driveable than the X6's..

We no longer have a need for two SUV's in the family as we've sold the boat to prepare for our kids college years. So the M3 is under some consideration -- but the #'s have to work out and it has to feel right for me and wifey too...

To be very transparent about this, I am not unhappy with the Diesel. But I am curious, and it will be fun to test drive (for the very first time) an E9X M3 with DCT today. Of all the vehicles I've owned, the M3 was my favorite and the one that stirred the most passion. I'll see where we net-out tonight. I could very well just see this X'er lease through and be ok with that

Good luck with this situation. I'm not married, but having been in relationships, I know it's not easy making decisions without the opinions of your significant other weighing heavily.

If it's me, you've got the RX (it's a Lexus, but we'll leave that for later...). The X5d is a hell of a vehicle, but it's no M3, if you don't need all the space. You COULD always do what I did and just get an E90. Oh, and please get a manual... We need more manuals on the road for BMW to keep building them for the U.S. customers.

Lol...I wish I could bros, but to much in-traffic driving for me to even consider it..I really grew to like the SMG in my E46 (believe it or not!) and I thought the DCT was light years ahead of that.

I will say my first drive in an E92 did not disappoint. I could tick through the litany of what's wonderful, but you guys already know those. My point of reference is my recollection of my E46 Cabriolet and the E92 is much more powerful, polished I can see it being an easier ed driver for me too.

I am working some #'s on E92's and E90's. Really loved the driving experience and appearance of the E92 with ZCP I drove today.

I'll make a final call Monday after noodling it over the weekend and getting some "final" #'s on Monday...And BTW, the wifey thought it was a wonderful car too

I am blessed with a wife who introduce me to BMWs while
we were still dating. What a keeper I thought!

After few bimmers later, she's my biggest
supporter/cheerleader for me to get the M3.

So I am taking her to Europe next year

Since you change cars frequently leasing is not the way to go for you.

Instead, get financing with a balloon payment. This is like a lease but with much more flexibility.
Are you talking about BMW Select? I have my eye on this option, but I do not know enough about it. Where can I find more information?

No, but maybe that's similar.

I'm just talking about financing the car with a balloon payment. With finance rates as low as they are (apx 2.5%) why pay cash for the purchase price? Instead finance but pay against a residual value that you can either pay off, refinance, or sell the car (whenever you want during the finance term without penalty). See Payment Saver from PenFed for example.

I am crunching #'s and trying to determine which finance option to go with (or lease). Waiting to hear back from dealer on a couple small items. But the main haggling is done

The reason divorces are expensive: They are worth it!

As long as you get the M3 in the same color as the X5, she'll never notice the difference...he he.

None taken bros...Agreed the 550 is an awesome vehicle. Might of still had it if I didn't need to tow a boat. My LCI had the somewhat rare Sport Auto which made it even better in my estimation.

My selection in vehicles has been an illogical progression at times which is the result of the heart trumping the head in decision making.

I told my wife the only car I've kept over 4 years was my E46 M3 and that SHOULD be the case with the E92 too

Is the wife concerned about the money or the habit? If it's the money, provided that she's financially literate, explain the transaction to her. If it's the habit, well, you've got bigger issues.

She may not understand it, but clearly she understands what makes you happy and cares. That is a fine wife you have there.

My wife doesn't get it either. I don't even try to help her understand anymore. She accepts my insanity as part of the package.

I have had 4 BMW's in 4 years. Problem was until now I never got the one I wanted. If it is what you really want go for it.

My wife actually pushed me in stating that it was inevitible anyhow given my history.
