cigarette lighter fuse #

OK for some reason my radar detector isn't working now. I noticed it stopped working after I was testing out the cigarette lighter. The lighter never heated up. So then I plugged in my radar detector and from there on I didn't have power.

So...now I open the fuse box and on the little diagram doesn't tell me which fuse it is. Can someone help me please???

Thank You

Anthony

I had the exact same issue when I first tried out my V1 before hardwiring it. Fuse popped, I opened the fuse box and looked at the paper with all the fuses and their number and the only one i couldn't find listed was the cigarette lighter. Luckily for me I don't smoke and two days later it was at BMW for the 1,200 so I had them replace it. I still have no idea what number fuse it is though, sorry.

Ok figured it out! On your fuse diagram, look for the symbol that looks somewhat like this

+ --> -

On my M3 E90 08, it was a FUSE # 8

Angry Both cigaretste lighters dead.

I got back from vacation and my mother decided to take joy rides on my car while i was out, i noticed a penny inside the front cigarette lighter, i removed it and now neither of the cigarette lighters would work, i looked thru the fuse diagram but couldn't figure it out, now i can't even find the damn paper, can anybody scan and post an image of the diagram?

My one has stopped working too.

How do you get the fuses out ... is there a tool somewhere?

There's a fuse puller inside the 'box' (behind glove box). Yeah, just having stupid symbols for the fuses is retarded, not to mention some items have 9 damn fuses .

It's very easy to spot a blown fuse; just use a decent flashlight and you can tell by a burn mark in the middle. And when fuse is pulled is even more obvious from the side.

If you want to disable the seatbelt arm, just pull fuse #30 now that you're in there . Take care.

Maybe its just me, but I had a tough time trying to reach fuse #30 to remove it. I finally got it. I just hope I never want to put that fuse back in.

To revive an old thread... This blew on my '11 e90. It's still fuse #8.

But where are the spares? Do they still give you some spares?

Thanks

I had my cigarette lighter fuse blow on my e92 as well after I tried to use the USB port to charge my Garmin watch on my phone charger while charging the phone. Dumb idea. It was the No. 8 20 amp fuse. However, I have since replaced the fuse 3 times and it still won't work and keeps blowing???? Help/Thoughts?????? Is there another fuse I have to replace in conjunction? Did I possibly damage the cig socket? So weird!!!! Thanks.

Does the #8 fuse blow without the cigar socket being used (nothing plugged in)?
What is the year of your car?

The #8 fuse supplies the Front cigar lighter and the Rear compartment socket outlet as shown on the wiring diagram.

Do you have anything permanently wired to either power source for aux power?

Found out that the culprit was a dime stuck in the cig lighter in the center console! Thanks.

I have heard and seen this many times in many different cars!
Is it kids that do this or just random change that flies into the open socket??

Thanks for the follow-up.

I just pulled fuse #30 and the seatbelt chime keeps going off, should I be pulling another fuse in conjunction with this one?

Just wondering if someone can help. I have the situation that the cigarette lighter adapter does not work, but the one in the center console works. I tried three different devices on both places and same result.

I replaced the fuse just in case, although the tester shows the old one works.

Is there some kind of an additional fuse or something that protects/ prevents the cigarette lighter adapter from working?

Thanks!
