I rented that exact X6M in the picture a few weeks ago and took it up to an indicated 270km/h on the Autobahn. 70 Euros per hour.
Next time I'm booking ahead so I can get an M3 or M5.

I was there 1 year ago and did this. Unfortunately you had to be 25 to drive the M3, but i had lots of fun testing a e92 335i on the Autobahn for a few hours. Have to do it again!

Driver S License?
Reading the requirements for renting an M car. 25 year plus and saying something about a Driver S.
Anyone know what a Driver S license is ? Going to Munich in a couple days.. I would like to rent a M car! I am over 25 years so go that covered. Don't want to book then realize I can't drive the car! Any help on this. Someone rented a M car there recently? THX. |

If the website says no M cars are available, then try calling the Welt and ask which cars are available - that's how I reserved the M5 which supposedly was booked for the weekend when I was Munich. You will need your driver's license, credit card and passport. No idea what a "Driver S license" is (probably a typo, and meant to be "driver's license"). Just booked the white M5 for a day and a 550i GT for another day (4 people)
Sweet find! Can not wait to drive the M5. Reasonable pricing also. Was going to do a Hertz or Avis car but forget that. Thanks for the post! Leaving Monday! |

Unless money is no object, prices are pretty steep if you want 1, 2, or a 3 day booking since they charge by hour. I wish they had bookings by day, or like a two day rental package. Seems hardly worth it if you want to rent one for a couple days and pay an hourly fee.

But keep in mind The Welt can be a bit flexible with the hours billed for the rental. For example, I picked up the M5 at 11 AM and paid for three hours, but was told I could keep the car for the entire day. Likewise, I think you can pick up around 3 PM and return next day without incurring the full cost. Maybe I just got lucky, but it's worth seeing what kind of deal you can get. Regardless, even at 70 € an hour for the M5, taking an M car out on the autobahn is really an incredible experience and worth the price. |

mdyaman....
A day equals 3 hours, night is 3 also. So a full 24hrs runs 6 hrs. Example- M3 is 40 euro an hour. So 9-5pm is 120 euro. 5-9am is also 120 euro. Includes insurance and taxes. 240 euro for a 24hr day. i was looking at a rental company and a regular car was $120-130 plus all those fees! =200+ Id say that's pretty good. I dont need the car overnight and my hotel is really close so im saving money and getting a way better car. Works for me and agree with HERR FSTIR, seems like its worth the price. I can not buy a M5 so figure 210 euro for the day was great. "The Ring" is down the road so add like 26 euro for a lap pass and you got the new M5 on the best and most famous race track in the world. The BMW ring taxi is the same price and you dont get to drive ring or rock the autobahn on the way there! I get sick when other people drive me fast anyhow! I feel BWM is doing this to get exposure and sell more cars. They are not trying to become a rental car company so understand a week plus trip might not make sense on the calculator. |

SIXT and BMW's...
Just FYI guys... You can rent a BMW from SIXT at the factory run BMW dealer just up the street from the Welt! I also highly recommend going there to see the various Individual optioned (//M, Alpina and AG)cars. Alpina cars are hidden way upstairs in the showroom. They also have a special 7er showroom and a wonderfull service center for anyone who needs and 1st service or oil change while your in München. They also have some "special" cars on display from time to time.
SIXT runs a rental counter downstairs in the Zentrum (dealership). You save the 20% bump that all rental companies charge when you rent at an airport or bahnhof(train station). BMW Niederlassung München Hauptbetrieb Frankfurter Ring 35 80807 München tel. 089 353510 tel. 011-49-089-353510 (calling from the states +6 hours from EST) bmw-muenchen.de BMW also have ANOTHER location near the Welt (its actually near the BMW Classic) that you can rent ANY BMW from. I would call the Welt for more info. Dackel
