New Hyundai Sonata
I'm getting tired of reading the stupid idiots' comments on Autoblog who say it's a derivative design. I think it's wholly original for being a family sedan, in a class where you have to have a conservative design that's differentiated by special cues.
I love the front design. It's wide, like God took his fist and smashed the hood and everything echoes around it. This looks better than the Altima (which just received the shittiest redesign ever), the Malibu, the Camry, the Accord, and the Mazda6. In fact it's getting scary to think how far Hyundai has progressed within such little time. I expect the manufacturer to become one of the top players within the upcoming few years.

For comparison, the Shartima's refresh:
I'm too lazy to post pics of the Malibu, Camry and Mazda6. You've seen them a million times on the road anyways, I'm sure.

Compared to the Sonata? I disagree. Better, yes. Newer, no.

Wow looks super aggressive and reminds me of the new E series redesign for some reason...atleast hyundai is stepping up their game. Genesis, then coupe, now this. They're getting their game straight. Too bad about the Hyundai badge though...

Do hate the grille. With a passion. Really, I don't even remember the last japanese car I saw with a front end that I liked. They've gotten progressively worse over the last decade from the cheap cars through the luxury models. Acura and Honda being the chief offenders in my book. If Japan keeps designing front ends like this, i'll never drive a Japanese car.
Interior is great for the class this car is in, though. I'd probably recommend the car to families that I know who are on a budget.

Holy wheel gap. I could almost stick my head in there.

I'm assuming you're being sarcastic as the car is on stands so the wheels aren't touching the ground.
It looks pretty nice, Hyundai keeps this up they're going to be inline with the Japanese companies before too long. |

The front end kind of reminds me of an evolved Toyota Solara.

Those "stupid idiots on Autoblog" are correct, this is still a derivative design. Check out the VW CC and tell me this car is not it's long lost brother. The interior looks like an Infiniti G37/Lexus IS hybrid. It does look decent and will probably cost way less than any of those other cars but I personally can't take Hyundai seriously until they actually design a unique car that doesn't simply copy an existing car from another manufacturer.

Hyundai has stepped up their game. The interior is great and outshines Nissan by a mile. The Nissan looks cheap and hastily put together compared to they Hyundai (Uh... did I just say that?).

I'm not talking about the first few photos. The gap is huge in all the photos.

I actually did not realize that. Styling is so clearly out of the Japanese playbook, I would have never known. I hate the front end look with a passion.
