Many aerospace brake systems use the pistons all the way around the rotor concept. When you need that level or brake torque you need mutliple discs and very even pressures, hence the design. Automotive systems just don't have the engineering requirements to justify this approach.
Also check out the test of this system in an extreme overweight landing scenario. .
