1200 mile service, Germany

I took my 2011 M3 in for 1200 mile service and the German dealer tells me, "any oil service is not part of the warranty in Germany." Even though 1200 mile service is required by BMW for the M3 I still have to pay for it. Because service is not part of the warranty in Germany, they would not even give me a loaner for the day. To add insult to injury, they called me and told me they need to keep my car over night because they didn't have the transmission oil. I brought my own engine oil thinking that's all I would have to pay for. The good thing is it did reduce the price by 315 euros($428.00) reducing to a grand total of 546 euros($743.00). What do I do now, is there anybody here in Germany going through the same thing????????

Yeah thats one of those things they don't disclose, BMWNA covers the Maintenance not BMWAG. I've heard of ppl claiming thru BMWNA but, never heard of someone getting it back.

I brought the oil but still pad for the services, its just one the things that I don't mind covering since I still saved 12gs on overall purchase.

Don't forget the cost of the differential fluid too.....

Anything that is petroleum based in Germany is going to cost you!

This is why I do my own services over here.

Good point!

I inquired via phone and I got a response that was the same as what is on the web site link above.

I too have read stories of people getting it reimbursed by submitting the paperwork to their CA, but I am a "see it in writing" kinda guy.

I would be great if anyone who's actually been reimbursed by BMWNA could chime in... if anyone actually got reimbursed.

I was unaware of the BMWNA overseas policy, but I knew about the 2-year warranty instead of the 4-year/50k miles. Thanks BMWNA for the support to US Service Members and DOD stationed here in Germany!

I did an E92 M3 Euro delivery in May 2009. Within the delivery packet, a letter stated that I was responsible for the costs of the 1200mi service while in Germany, but upon arrival to the States, I should submit a claim to my local BMW dealer for reimbursement. Though BMW NA was not obligated to reimburse the costs, my local dealer could submit a goodwill will claim for the services in Europe.

I took my car to BMW Euler in Frankfurt. It cost about 337 euros for the service. I received my reimbursement check for $500!! Drove a total of 6543 miles while in Europe. Visited the Ring twice! The Ring is addicting!

If you get the car here through Military or Diplomatic sales while in Germany, I don't think it's the same as BMWNA. I bought 2 cars here, working on a third, & none of them referenced BMWNA, just a Canadain firm. I had to pay for all my maintenance.

What fluids did you have changed? Oil, Differential & manual gear box, right?

I brought my own engine oil but they did the trans and diff. By bringing my own engine oil, I was able to cut cost. The guys at turnermotorsports.com got my oil to Germany in a week. Same exact oil, bottle and everything, that was in the German dealer for sale.

Folks there is NO doubt in my mind after driving 4 BMWs in Europe. There is NO FREE Services... PERIOD... If you take delievery overseas, you rec a 2 year warranty vs the 4 years in the USA. If you ship the car back to the USA before the 4 year warranty period is up, you will rec the rest of the warranty to include the FREE services. But back in the USA ONLY. You can certainly try to get a Dealership to give you a free service, if they do GREAT, they are just unsure and don't want to argue....

That's great info on getting your money back and that price for the service seems pretty good too compared to the OP's price.
Thanks for letting us know.

Did my 1200 mile service in Germany, got reimbursed by BMWNA. They forget to change the tranny fluid in Germany (6mt), it was done at redelivery by the dealer.

I don't see how this would apply to US servicemembers stationed in Germany though, or does it? Can anyone with experience chime in on that?
