I have one more year until my warranty is up (march 12) and my cpo doesn't cover idrive so this is definitely something I am going to do. I am just doing as much research as I possibly can. I want it to go well and be done right the first time.

I picked up a 2008 M3 in Germany at BMW Welt. When I was stationed at Ramstein I did some mods, but never this extensive. Can you tell me what it would cost to do this on my 2008? I live in PA now and don't have easy access to euro parts. Thanks in advance for any help. Regards. |

I am very interested in this potential retrofit. I have a 2008, Dec 07 build M3. I've been in touch with Patryk about OEM parts for the work along with the proper coding for the parts to match my VIN. He also said that once the work was complete any future software updates could not be done with reversion to the older components. Has anyone had any issues with this in mind? What software type of things are we talking about? And lastly he also mentioned that BMW assist would not be available. I must admit ot likeing some of the features. Any thoughts on the good/bad side of BMW Assist.
How does this stuff mesh with say the Dinan ECU upgrade etc? I am also considering doing this in a metered way. Install the bew idrove controller and ditch the older idrive controller for the new. I seem to re-call but can't find where that not all the functions worked properly. Any comments or thoughts would be really appreciated.

I installed the CIC/Combox today using information from this thread (thanks mdrobc13) and Patryk. It took me about 3 hours for the install. Coding took another 2 hours given the abundance of options in my car.
We didn't get a chance to install the 2012 Nav. That has been set for next Saturday. The PnP was brilliant and life made easy by the details in this thread. The guy doing the coding was such a pro just watching him remotely take over my PC and doing the magic was mindboggling. Thank you once again for a very informative thread. Patryk and the team provide an excellent service to the BMW community, and Patryk, thank you once again. As someone pointed out, no need to trade in the car and lose a lot of money for this CIC/Combox feature. The car is like new, and I have internet through BMW Services. Can't ask for more. Cheers to all. One happy chappy

Just completed my retrofit yesterday and my guide plus this thread were a great help. I also have enhanced audio and there was no way the new video connector was going to be routed down the left side of the dash like the old one....there's just no room. Ended up having to remove the glove box and route it along the right side like OP.

Professional radio with Bluetooth
Hi all.
I have a 2007 E91 330i Professional Radio with bluetooth fitted (No usb) I have bought a double pod dash and I am comfortable with the dash teardown, I have also bought a CIC model nav with screen and controller but I have no cables. What cables will I need? I have experience of installing a Dynavin in my E46, so not a total Noob, but not far off, ha... Thanx DB |
