Yep, it's limited to 161 mph, not 155, even though that's what BMW advertises. I feel cheated

Hans, did you hit 170 mph @ autobahn with summer tires and all that snow???? I thought that your baby was already stored in your garage for the entire winter season LOL

Greetings from Barcelona

My friend in his E60 M5 also hit the same 170MPH and then that's it. So says the speedo anyway. I know it says our cars are limited to 155MPH. What has everyone else experienced as a top speed and is that a correct indication on the speedometer???

Hans
Hi, I talked to a guy who works in a German dealership and that knows a few things about BMWs. He said that the speed restriction on all M Series is set to 168mph. This is for US Specs being sold in Germany; He's not sure about those being sold in the US.
Personally, I drove my buddy's M3 from Nurnberg to Munich and hit 160mph for a bit... so they can in fact go that fast.

That makes sense since I've hit about 175mph as indicated on the speedo.

What is it like hitting the limiter in this car? On other cars, I've hit top speed limiters that were rather abrupt and others which sort of felt like they rolled off the power smoothly.

I wonder what it would feel like being past the limited speed in 5th then shifting into 6th.
