M3: Most Anticipated Car Ever?

What do you think about this?

I can't think of any other car that has had as many spy shots and videos circulated for so long.

I'd guess (at least in my lifetime) The "New Beetle" introduced in 1998 was the most highly, and widely, anticipated new car.....

Question Personally or widespread

Somewhat of an ambiguous poll. However, for me personally it is by far the most anticipated. Clarify the poll and I will vote.

Seriously guys?

I bet if you went outside and randomly polled 100 people, around 35% would even know what an M3 is.

i voted yes.
many people loved R34 GTR and i was expecting a lot of interest when they announced that it will be here in the US, but not many people have interests compared to people who are waiting for new M3.

+1

For gear head, officionados and those that like cars and sports cars -> Yes.

But for General public Jane & John -> No.

If you average the two; other car have been more anticipated ... the New Beattle being one of them. Price is also a factor as so many Janes and Johns could afford a new beattle.

As for the M3; mainly those that live in a casa* like Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Smith can afford one.

*yeah, the one in the movie

The Beetle wasn't as hotly anticipated in Europe as this car, surey? It bombed pretty much everywhere.

I can't think of any other cars whereby people are stopping and chatting to testers and the like, they normally race off or get angry.

Although the M3 may not be the MOST sought after car from a desirability standpoint-and by that I mean if money were no object whatsoever, most of us would be buying Ferraris, Porsches and Lambos; and have an M3 as a daily driver (LOL), I believe that it IS the most anticipated because of many factors, such as: model recognition, price point and versatility.
I do know the exact numbers BMW plans to produce, but the M3 is very attainable to the masses. Some may consider it out of reach, but using the E46 as an contemporary example, many buyers still had an attainable dream within their sights.

I have been trolling around for a while, and the M3 buzz does not seem as big as the recent release of the Mustang Shelby Cobra.

Maybe in Europe, go outside and ask 100 Americans what an M3 is, and you probably get about as many different answers
It might be the most anticipated car for certain BMW fans, M3 fans and Euro fans but that is really it.
I really hope it is going to be as special as y'all are saying.
But it is by far not the most important thing happening in my life and I really hope you guys have a better life then just sitting behind your pc and drool over some picture somebody might have shot somewhere out in the middle of nowhere

I live in montreal and my crew of friends are all Bmw fanatics, so much so that all we talk about is M. My whole crew and i are going to go to Geneva for the unveiling. We all think that this upcoming M3 is the most anticipated M cars ever. Reason why: We want to see how it will eat the competition and just how much she will ooze sexiness!!!

Wow man you had been living under a rock. I've been a M3 aficionado since the E36 M3 came to the states. To me the new E92 M3 with the V8 is the most anticipated car in my life time. I'm glad I am living in these times. I never even imagined BMW would venture into the V8 territory for the M3. Better yet never believed they would ever bring back turbos, since they have always been NA hard core. Times a changing I tell you.
On a side note, the release of this new V8 M3 could not have come at a better moment in history/my life time, since my career has been taken off and now finally I can afford the newest iteration.
