F30 328 vs M3?! When's the battle to begin!?
Hahahah so since everyone loves arguing about the 335i with a tune vs our cars it's only a matter of time before the F30 crowd starts stating there 328i with a tune can smoke our M's!!

The sad thing is it most likely will smoke our cars in a straight line just like a 335! Its also a brand new designed chassis and engine that is probably 10 years newer technology. Remember s65 was designed in 2001-2002 in the form of the S85 if not before that for the V10 version. S65 is simply that engine minus 2 cylinders and a few upgrades. So in 10 years I would hope again the new 3ers would smoke the old m's just like the 335 smokes the e46m3 in a straight line.

Based on that theory (and I am not saying it's wrong), in couple of generations 328i would run 0-60 in the fours.
Damn, those will be scary roads to drive on. Quote:

With a tune.. in a straight line at least to 100kmph I would not be surprised to see some 328's beat stock M3s.
But it never was about that, was it. It never will be about straight line speed comparos, or modded vs unmodded.

There's no way even a FBO 328i will be anywhere close to beating me in the M. Unless you change turbo's etc etc. I'm saying that just a tuned 328 will stand no chance yet alone even with full bolt ons. I must say I am very excited for the F30's. BUT im just saying it's a matter of time before guys in 328's start smack talking the M models. |

Car and Driver just did an instrumented test on an F30 335i. It was several tenths slower in the 1/4 than the E90, with a 2mph lower trap speed. Maybe it's finally making the advertised 300hp instead of 320 or whatever it really had in the E90.

Sad part is........that it is! Like 335 drivers that compare straight line power to our cars!

meh.. let them. The more Nxx drivers that don't get the M thing the better. Means less douchebag M3 drivers. I don't try to convince them anymore. Just tell em they are DA BEST and their car is the fastest etc.

I am not saying the 328 is in anyway better but an underrated 240hp with turbos is a combination that could probably push 370 hp and from a dig with torque down low could give it a run to 75 from 0. This would have to be a FBO with a tune.
Considering a 335 with a typical stage 2 tune and a few bolt ons spanks the m3 in the straights. I have an m3, so don't get me wrong. I do think it would be nice though if the m3 reallly spanked the 335 in all tests, tuned or not. The next m3 will fit this bill if it goes turbo |
