okay, what i dont get is how they launch controled with barely any wheel spin, every time i launch i get a shit load of wheel spin and my rpm needle hit redline before the vehicle speed matches rpm speed, is there a way to get clean powerful launch with minimal wheelspin on a DCT?

The manual explains how to lower the launch rpm. Use the little lever below the turn lever to adjust rpm before launch.

Had my E46 SMG for 4 years and I used launch control more than 11 times. I think that's BS.

Hey *********, didn't kno if you wanted your name posted
How you liking the M3? Your right he is not my friend anymore but for different reasons he was trying to patch things up by giving me the car for the weekend. He doesn't know about my very fun and somewhat expensive weekend.
Gas for M3 45 dollars
1 set of rear tires 200 dollars
The endless launches, donuts, drifts etc... Priceless
I'd post pics and videos but that would get me in trouble possibly

I Like.
I got my M3 as a 6mt since I specifically wanted a manual, but I have to admit I'm a little jealous of DCT after seeing those two videos, LOL.

In both videos, a chime comes on (same one you get when you have a low gas warning). What does that indicate during launch control?

The driver has set the reminder for his speed limit. When he passed the speed he put in idrive, it gongs to remind you that you've passed the speed that you set.

Failed to launch...

I had 7k miles on my car when I first tried LC and man I almost crashed. I got so scared I almost peed my pants.

I did everything wrong because I did not know the little flag had to be on. Without that little flag on, I thought it would still shift automatically for me but it didn't, so I had to manually shift (after noticing that i've been on the red line for approx. 2 seconds on 1st gear!) only up to 3rd gear because I had so much spin on the back end that I almost lost control of the car and almost hit an X5. After that horrible event and stupid trial, I don't think I'll ever be able to have fun with LC again.. =(

I have tried LC on several different occasions. I am either doing something wrong or it isn't working, because all I get is wheel spin, and it doesn't shift gears for me. WTF? I can do a better job without all that multi-step BS... it's called drop the hammer is go, modulate wheel spin with right foot as necessary

I see...thanks! Guess I have that on my 6mt too...I just never use it. I thought it might have been something to do with launch control

I used LC for the first time the other night on a nice clear road as has been suggested and man was it a surprise to see the needle jump to 5,500. My friend's M5 is about 2,500RPM. It was a complete animal! I still enjoy MDM mashing though haha. Some amazing cars we all have.
