Took Delivery/M3 Forum

The wait is over and I finally took delivery of my 2011 Jerez Black M3. While waiting a long 3 1/2 months due to a re-order I have read numerous posts on this forum. I found many to be informative but was surprised and concerned of complaints with the car. I read about the Premium Sound being bad, DCT being bad, and a lack of torque and so on. Moreover, I read ad nauseum 335 versus M3 comparisons.

Well, here are my thoughts:

Premium Sound is AMAZING! Best stereo I ever heard in a car PERIOD!

Torque: AMAZING! How much faster do you want a street car to go?

DCT: Love it so far.

Jerez Black: The best color I have ever had on a car. All of the pictures you see on this forum do not truly show its beauty.

335 v. M3: Just coming from a 2007 335 I can truly say that there is NO COMPARISON!

There's no 2007 M3 in the U.S.

Congratulations on the car!

Many folks have had issues with the DCT in earlier MYs, but those were largely software related and with a few exceptions those issues have been corrected (and folks had the exceptions were/are rightly POd). I just got the latest DCT software last week, and this is just a different car than it was before. Trust me, there were very good reasons for the complaints. They seem to have finally gotten things pretty much right.

As for other things, it's selection bias. You're going to find a lot more "complaints" on a board like this as it's where folks "go" when they have issues.

Torque.

The important things IMO are this: a.) You got the right car for you; b.) You're happy with the performance and features; c.) The board is a wealth of information if you want to mod the car, have questions, or if some issue arises. (No better place to find information that here and without this resource many folks would have been screwed over by incompetent or unscrupulous dealerships.)

Any pictures? You know how not having them runs around here!

I came from 335i as well, and agree with you, 335i and M3 can not be compared... M3 is a street legal race car. Don't you just love the grawl of M V8? Awesome!

I'm glad you're happy with it and it is a decent setup but it's REALLY not all that great.

I don't think you're going to spend much time listening to it for a while though.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?! You posted all of this information about how long you had to wait for your car to be delivered, and you didn't think to take pics before posting this thread?!?! WOW! I'm sure you know that the CREED on this forum is to attach pics to a thread about receiving your new M3!!!
