Mike Benvo's software flash

Had Mike Benvo flash and code my 2010 E90 M3. Don't post here often, but figured I'd share.

Dynoed my car on same dyno in 5th gear few hours apart:

My car is almost stock:
- AFE Intake
- AFE underdrive pulleys
- Eisenmann Street Exhaust

To me the biggest improvement was in throttle response at low RPM. It's a lot smoother and very easy to modulate. The initial tip-in on throttle is a lot less jerky, yet strong. I swear it feels like it has more torque down there. If it's a placebo effect at play, I SURE LIKE IT. Overall, it feels as if car pulls from the very bottom to the red line a lot smoother. It just begins to build and builds and builds and builds all the way to the top. Definitely feels a little stronger than before.

He also flashed Euro MDM and Euro M-DCT software. Can't comment on Euro MDM yet, but I will once I get to play with it a little more.

Euro M-DCT feels better. It's hard to explain exactly what is better. Full throttle upshifts definitely feel different in a good way. Smoother yet just as quick. The only thing I don't like about it, it now always defaults to D when going from R/N to D/S. So it's two bumps now for me as I don't go into MDM/S5 right away which is what my (M) button is programmed for.

He also coded a bunch of options for me, made my angel eyes brighter, few other convenience options.

Overall very happy with the whole process. Mike has shipped necessary cable/tools to my favorite installer here in Raleigh, NC and did the whole thing over the internet. Smooth, quick and very convenient.

My installer (Dan Connor @ Bimmer Performance Center http://bimmerperformancecenter.com/) is a Certified BMW Master Technician and is also impressed with Mike. They are a reputable shop. I see a lot of race cars there often for engine work. He had a lot of questions for Mike before he put his seal of approval on this upgrade. Afterwards Dan said: This guy definitely knows his stuff.

Thank you Mike!

Those are decent gains -- in line with what I would expect from a tune. A target AFR of 12.9 on a naturally aspirated car obviously makes better power than the factory's 11.5:1.

I'd like to do Euro MDM myself at some point, but it will be costlier for me since I do not have MDM to start with.

Great to see a solid before/after dyno of the BPMSport NA Tune!

Solid gain all across the board!

Thanks for sharing!

I received my coding cable from FedEx today and Mike and I will be tuning my E90 M3, which already has Dinan's "mid-pipe" software paired with my AA catless system, later tonight. I cannot wait and will share my experiences as well and will try to post my dyno results for comparison (I have a baseline based on the existing mods).

Glad to finally see someone post numbers.

Hi haters.
Stage I - and stock cats

Very pleased with the improvement. It looks like peak torque is up 18wtq which is over 25 at the crank.

Glad you are enjoying it Janis! Chime back in when you have some more seat time

hoeferland: looking forward to your input

Finally, a dyno confirmation to put to rest all those "Ney" sayers. Good gains. If I can remember, my butt dyno felt similar gains

I'am consider this tune from Mike Benvo(BPM tuning) also...
I hear a lot of good stuff about this tune...and i'm sure this man(Mike Benvo)now's what he's doing!
But here in Belgium i can run with 98 ron octane and the car pulls already verry well! and what can i expect from this tune with 98 ron ???
And for the moment...it's winter here in Belgium with snow,so the car is now almost two months in hibernation(a lot of roadsalt)
So....for the moment,i just don't now,but in spring,i will consider this tune again

I have run BP Ultimate or Shell V-Power in my M3 since day 1. I dicussed having a specific tune for these fuel but Mike asked me to leave it as stock. I have done so and with the tune and the fuel it's just exhilerating. You need to drive the car to understand what everyone is talking about.

I am in Australia, and there was no issues hooking up with Mike to program the car. In my books, he is a gentleman with the born knack to make people feel special. Lovely chap and a pleasure to deal with. That's the best past about the whole experience. Yes, he's taking your money but at the same time he's respectful of you. I've had some bad experience dealing with vendors offshore.

Hope you get the tune and enjoy a fresh experience.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

USA uses AKI. 93 AKI = 98 RON

I think it's all octane. It's just measurement formula is different.
