For this wanting a back-up camera on the cheap...
I installed this system last week:
http://www.4ucam.com/iphone-android-...up-Camera.html and after a little futzing, it has worked out pretty well. Camera mounts on licenses plate, feeds from any 12 volt source. I did have professionally installed (was getting my laser jammer installed, so I had it all done at the same time.). Works on both iPhone and Android. Sorry about the pics, taken with iPad

That's pretty neat! Would you have a picture from a little farther back? It would be interesting to see how obvious the camera jig is or how much it protrudes from but trunk.

Cool system. My biggest gripe about my car is not having a camera. Really wish I had a front one too as every once in a while I hit a curb stop. Any way to run this through I drive?

You can get rear/front cameras from Bimmertech, Modmynav, or Alekshop. It works through iDrive, uses an OEM rear camera that replaces your trunk release button, and the only modification you have to do is clipping your front mesh so you can secure the front camera.
The Bimmertech is a bit more expensive, but has the dynamic guidelines. As a bonus, all of these cameras include a multimedia module, so you are able to hook up any external device and stream the video on the iDrive screen. Plus, you can view the rear or front camera feed at any time, even while driving. |

This is cool. The only issue I see is that you have to open up your phone and load an app every time you back up. Knowing how lazy I am, I'd probably just back up without ever using it.

I looked into bimmertech, its was $575 plus install, and requires alot of work both at the rear and at the dash. I did this to Pontiac and it was a real pain running the wires in the trunk.
This cost me $250 installed. My Samsung Note sits perfectly in the astray open. If you wanted you could by a cheap Rupes, just spend $40 and get this at best buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/boost-mo...&skuId=4536009 Will post more pics soon. Also, this stays on while driving and you can take rear shots or record video.
