My shop told me the quick-fit system which is available for the Mini would actually also fit in the E92!! I've ordered those and will keep you updated!

Too late. Many members have turned purple and died...or did they die from old age? Not sure.

I think the problem you MIGHT run into is the tail strap length. If the seat belt receptacles accept a similar sized seat belt...then OK. But the Ralleye4 in my E90 doesn't leave a lot room for adjustment. I think Schroth tunes the total length of the belt to the car. I do sit kind of close to the wheel at the track so this might be a false alarm. I could test it but I'm too lazy.

Plus, I already have harnesses in my car

Actually they have installed it in a E92 M3. That car was at the shop the same as mine and at the point where it was finished, I was talking with the owner about the mods on our cars. He liked the Performance seats in my cars alot. So he went like "oh I only have black grilles, coilovers and Schroth Quick-Fit on my car. Those would be nice with your seats."

I was like "wait, what?? " With this thread in mind, I was sure it wasn't available for the E92. So he told me the belt knuckles from the Mini fit. And strap length seems to be sufficient. Soon I shall know for sure

Lol...Nice one! I couldn't think of any more ways to get everyone's hope up and only to crush them later on

Seriously, I hope this works.

This is the only thread so far on this forum that actually makes me LOL.

The issue with Schroth selling it in the US is not the availability of the unit, but it is that it hasn't passed the DOT (I think this is the agency in question) testing required for E90 and E92 seat. The structural strength of the seat back needs to meet the required standard. I am guessing it is the responsibility of Schroth USA to complete these tests. I suspect from your finding these harnesses for sale in Luxembourg that the Schroth harness meets EU standards. Unfortunately, these standards are not homologated to the US.

I think they're not officially homologated in the EU either for the E9x platform. For other cars they are.

As for the structural strength of the seat back, I have the BMW Performance seats which are in fact relabeled Recaro "Sportster CS" seats. So that won't be a problem in my case. Nor for anyone else running race seats.

Just to clarify a couple of items since I'm the OP. The BMW E9x seats have been crash tested and have passed. The testing was actually completed many months ago.

The Schroth specific application for BMW E9x is tied up in legal issues with licensing and manufacturing as evidently (per Schroth USA) they will be manufacturing or assembling the belts here. As of today (Aug 18th) there still is no official release date.

Now regarding the Mini application, Schroth USA won't comment or recommend the Mini application in our cars due to obvious legal liability issues. However, as noted above by Autobahn335 Mini belts have been fitted to our generation M3 and at least for the E92, do fit and Autobahn335 plans to put them in his car too. Obviously, this would be an "at your own risk" type of application and the mounting points for the outboard connections would have to be confirmed and whether the tail length is sufficient for the E90 as well is still unknown.

Also, and this won't be confidence inspiring, but according to Schroth, the DOT "certification" is just for the fact that the seat belt release is a red button and not really anything regarding it's strength or crash-worthiness.

That would be great. If you can show that they fit okay, then I'll be next on board to order a set. I looked at the Schroth Mini installation (PdF is on their site) instructions and it looks like it should work, in fact some of the illustrations are BMW specific, go figure.

My Mini harness is on the way.

I plan to test fit (with photos for you guys) as soon as it arrives, then if I decide to keep it, installation on Saturday. On track on Monday...

Stay tuned...
