throttle actuator problem?

OK guys
many of you know more about these cars than I do
hoping to get some help here

Over the last several days I have noticed something funny about my car (E90M3// 2010)

While driving and decelerating I have had several instances where the gar jumps forward almost as if I got hit in the back. it has also been rough moving from a stoplight etc. never had this issue before. I thought it was probably bad gas and was going to address it with some injector cleaner etc.

This morning on my way to work I noticed another weird issue. I saw an image of a gear on the dash.......strange.
Immediately my mind told me its probably the throttle actuator.
The car then suddenly began to lose power and go into limp mode, then in changing gears it move from 2 to 4 to 6 without going into 3rd or 5th.
I got off the highway and shit the car off.......

After starting again the car drove fine to work and performed well. I am still worried though as if this is an issue I need to get it fixed...

Has anyone had this problem or seen this sign on their dash before before?

For reference my car is DCT with no NAV
any advice is appreciated

sounds more like a dct issue tbh. can you pull the codes? the gaskets are known to weep and eventually leak and the belly shield catches it so you don't notice the leaks on the ground. it's possible your dct fluid has become critically low over time?

Im going to take the car to get the codes read and to the mechanic this evening

I have the same issue just now, and especially prominent when its warmed up. Its not there when its cold. I can also mitigate the jerk while taking off from a standstill by putting in into N and into D right before I apply the gas. Weird

In my opinion, it's not your actuators, it's your DCT. It will get worse with time. I believe it's your clutches. There is another thread recently where someone posted that the harness may be exposed or wires are cracked/exposed.

EDITED:
My tech changed fluids/filter and monitored to see if thermostat was functioning properly, didn't fix the problem even with a tune change and re-adaptation of the clutches.

Getrag recommended replacing the disks so I went with SSP disks. New disks and re calibration and errors came up with clamping/engaging faults (something is wrong with electronics on the DCT itself). Aparently bmw does not sell individual parts to most of the dct so a used unit had to purchased. the SSP disks are swapped over to the used unit awaiting results.

And for the record I had ZERO leaking from the infamous side panel/gasket area, have only launched the car three times. once before the supercharger and twice with the supercharger. my theory is the fluid was incorrect or low when my fluid was changed in November of 2015 or the clutches developed hot spots or were worn out from the excessive torque{i do not believe this last theory myself because the v10 cars and the v8TT m5 and m6 create way more torque than my 625 kit will ever produce}. My dct mileage is 62,000. 2,000 on the supercharger.

Make sense, I notice my center console where the shifter is located is making clicking sound when I am coming to a stop. It's never happened before and its the same click you hear when you engage a different gear (R,N,D,S) only now it happens when I am decelerating. Funny thing is, if I put it into N and then into D right before I give gas, it doesn't act up. It feels like the electronic is failing to properly clutch out or something.

My good friend with a low mileage '11 had to change the shifter assembly in his dct. his access comfort was also draining his battery and heating his amp.

At first, yellow dct gear light that would come on for a few seconds and then go away.

the real symptom is the massive jerk from a stop in first gear. I believe OP or someone else said "it's like getting hit from behind while you're parked" or the way I described it is like teaching my son to drive clutch for the first time /popping the clutch while at a stand still.
This only happens at a stop, from first gear. everything else is 'normal'.

Oh my, you've nailed it, couldn't describe it any better. Do you have the park number by any chance? I see some used one on ebay for 1g dunno if I should get a new one.

that is the odd thing, on any of the oem schematics, there isn't too many part numbers for the dct, they are small external pieces. the mechtronics system and the internal parts do not have any part numbers at all.

your best bet is to source a used/low mileage dct or replace the clutches (you are going to need an experianced shop that has the knowledge of the dual clutch system.

Since you mention the DCT assembly, I was looking at one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M3-DCT-G...pXdni-&vxp=mtr

Think it'll do the trick? I think the electronic fault noise I hear is coming from the shifter, Actually I can feel it moving when the symptoms come up. Everything else is perfect including hard shift, soft shifts, down shifts, even launching.

Also, if I leave it in N and switch over to D right before I give gas, it never show the symptoms. So I think its an electronic issue at this point of the amp heating up... it only happens if I let it happen and when oil temp reach 100 C. I had my friend scan the car with a GT1 and no codes regarding the DCT as well.

I've heard that if that amp is hot and the shifter is giving you problems it has to do with your comfort access , the car thinks you are near so it is ready to start.

That shifter assembly is the problem but please don't take my word for it, find a local independent that can help you before you start throwing parts at it.
