Electronics gurus needed
I run a GoPro camera mounted in my windshield from (usually when a cop gets in behind me or if I see someone driving like a stoner). I want to be able to run it all the time but the problem is that there is limited battery and SD card space.
Is there a way to hardwire the GoPro for direct power as I have done with my V1 and have it run/record to a hard drive in the glove box? This way I could simply record every time I'm in the car without having to constantly turn on/off the camera and have to empty the card all the time (as opposed to say once a month or so with an external hard drive). The GoPro has a setting that once you power up the cam it automatically starts recording so the hardwire would just start/stop the recording process every time the car was started and stopped. Any ideas? I never went to Cal Tech so I'm pretty good with a wrench and pretty crappy with electronics aside from the very basic stuff that's laid out for me (such as my V1 hardwire). I believe running it all the time would just be good for both insurance and law enforcement protection as well as catching those "oh shit!" moments that you never have time to grab a camera for. |

Are there other options beside GoPro that are made for this specific funtion that are better suited? Police dashcams come to mind that show the time/date stamp as well.

This is what I used. Bought it after some guy did an insurance scam on me.
