Jerez Black Owners - you likin it? Or wait for Jet?

I've had a carbon M before, I have Jet Black now. I prefer jet black, however its just too hard to find the car I want. However I've found a couple jerez I will buy. I've seen Jerez in person a bunch of times... Just go for Jerez and enjoy it, or stick it out until Nov delivery for an 09?

I'm dying over here man, I need my M3 soon or I'm going to go nutso... tell me Ill be happy with jerez\fox red

I'd advise against Jet Black. Seems like alot of the JB coupes at least are coming off the line with some metallic in the paint. Its fine unless something happens and you need some re-spraying done. Then nobody would be able to match the paint since the Jet Black paint BMW centers have doesnt have metallic in it.

In my case I had a BMW rep come down and they pulled another M3 coupe from the dealer put it side by side with mine and both had the same paint. Even though the cars were made about one month apart.

So BMW felt the paint was fine and did nothing

I picked my Jerez up yesterday. To be honest I probably couldn't tell a Jerez from a Jet Black unless they were lined up right next to each other. With that in mind I personally would not wait.

I posted pictures of my new baby in this thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157562

The JZB also has a dark blue depending how the light reflects off the paint. It's kinda neat. At times the car is completely black, and at times is completely dark blue.

Beg to differ: IMO JzB is very unique w/ its blue highlights, see my photo below:

I like it because on some days it looks jet black, on other days when you look at it just right you can tell its just slightly more unique than plain black. its definitely NOT "blue" in person like some of the pics in other threads have suggested.

Best way to see it is when the car is in motion. it appears black, but on the edges and contours there is just an ever so slight extremely deep blue which I think looks very very classy.

in this photo I tried to get the color to look exactly like it did in person while it was sitting there:

I have a Carbon Black E46 M3, and i'm waiting my Aug del. Jet black E92 M3, Personally i think Jerez is cool, but I think i will be having my M3 for atleast 4-6 years, and I can be sure i won't be bored with Jet black, so i think Jet Black is a great color choice, this is just IMHO.

I wanted JB too, and end up getting JZB, and I love it. Its definitely not a boring color.

I've got Jerez and am loving it. I can truly appreciate other car colors; however, I've always had a black car, and it would be tough for me to stray from black.

So, for me the choice was between JZB and JB. I had ordered my car long before there were any models to view in person, and well before the many posts that have discussed the subtle differences between the two colors.

At the time, I wound up choosing JZB because I was under the impression that it was going to have a more metallic or tinted look as compared to JB...I had not read anything at the time about the violet, blueish subtleties with JZB.

Suffice to say, I was totally caught off guard the day I picked up my car, because it was parked right next to a JB and the two looked completely different to me! The violet, blueish subtleties IMO were quite pronounced in the side-by-side. I was uncertain about my color choice on that day...and for awhile after.

To this day, I would probably order JB over JZB; however, I don't regret my decision. I have actually grown to absolutely love the way this car changes its hue in certain light...in some cases it looks as black as can be...and in the blink of an eye it blends from deep violet to dark plum to rich blue highlights - it is truly amazing and makes the finish appear to have a consistency more like a glossy liquid than a hard surface.

Even though my next car will be JB, the JZB experience is a welcome change for me and has somehow added more to my total enjoyment of the car...I wouldn't wait.

Have now see all the M3 colours in person and hands down I would take JzB over the rest. So, that will be my choice (originally had been leaning towards SSII or SpG).

BTW, even though I have now seen at least 12 new M3's, including 4 E93's today at the local dealer's not a single one has had FR interior! So have yet to see that IRL which is frustrating as am leaning that way (over bamboo).

Check the detailing forum: Jet black is gorgeous, but a nightmarish horror to maintain. Go with JzB. Metallic BMW paint ftw.

i think jerez is gorgeous on bright sunny days, kind of the same way i think interlagos looks a little purpley/too deep blue. i do like interlagos a lot when its overcast, but either way for me its the first time i felt that you cant go wrong with any of the colors, except perhaps the superman combination.

I absolutely LOVED Carbon Black, if I were to order an M3 today it would definitely be Jerez Black, BTW - is that as good as Carbon Black?

That may be true, but they are a PIA to keep clean. I'd rather have a car that looks good all the time

agree, but every once in awhile somebody posts a photographic masterpiece in forums of flawlessly cleaned jet black car with passive-aggressive mods that just annihilates every other color.

...while we at it, BMW should resurrect estoril and avus blue. it is also missing some form of BRG or other nice and subtle green color. dakar yellow wouldn't hurt either and imola red should be standardized M color.
