Thumbs up BPMsport tune +23hp

Hi all,
A quick follow up post to my quick post earlier in the 240E thread.

Mike sent me a replacement .mod file for the one he gave to me earlier to get the car started. The specs I requested were:
  • full decat
  • cold start delete
  • 4500 rpm cold rev limit
  • 8600 rpm warm rev limit
  • 93 octane
  • removed top speed limiter
As I said in the other thread, dyno's are not my thing, but in the interest of making sure the air fuel ratios are safe across the board the car was strapped onto the dyno on Friday and prior to flashing, pulled off a baseline dyno of 381hp.
I loaded up iFlash, put in the file Mike emailed over and we pulled off 403hp, 404hp, 405hp, very consistent! Therefore I am happy to say we are finally in the 400hp club.

The car did not make more much power below 4k RPM, a personal bugbear of mine since I got the car. Above 4k RPM however, it feels VERY much smoother and there is a tangible increase in urgency. The power does not fade till ~7+k, where the rate of increase of revs tapers slightly continues to pull cleanly till the new warm cut. The increased revcut does not feel like it taxes the engine, and the AFRs are safe through too. As a final piece-de-resistance which I am thrilled about, the car also sounds different after the tune - it has a more aggressive, purposeful tone through the revs.

My engine mods are:
  • full catless 2.5" resonated x pipe
  • akra slip on
  • AA crank pulley

The car is a 2008 DCT.

I strongly recommend working with Mike Benvo. He has provided me exceptional customer service, and his product works well and as advertised. I would happily recommend him and his product to anyone else who is in a similar position. In fixing my car and subsequently supplying me with this tune he has demonstrated good knowledge of the MSS60 DME and the custom flashing process.

Thanks!

@Mike,
Thanks for your help - you have been very patient in working to meet my requirements. You have also been very professional and discreet as this all has unfolded. Whilst I sort out the dramas with the unnamed workshop over here - lets keep the details and names (mine included!) tight.
Take care!

That's a great gain! Glad you are enjoying the software. I wish we had the same gas you have out here!

I will undoubtedly keep all information confidential about the shop that left your car unstartable. Don't worry.

There are some changes before 4000 RPM, but the majority of the changes are after as that's where this engine really shines. Making changes too low in the rev range often causes knocking and other issues that I don't want people to experience. The file in your car is very similar to the one in mine, and has been track tested in extreme conditions on 3 different M3's with 300F oil temperatures and 105 degree weather. So rest assured it will continue to put a smile on your face moving forward, whether cruising down the street or beating down the track.

Please post the dyno when you have a chance.

Mike

I too was amazed that it pulled that high a baseline number. I am not sure if that was attributable to the "baby tune" that Mike gave me earlier or if it was due to the good petrol I had in there. If any Malaysians are on here, I was running BHP 97. US folks might like to note we run RON here instead of the MON ratings, so the numbers are not directly comparable.

The gain is incredible indeed! Much more than I expected, Ordinarily you need FI to get gains like this. Thanks for your help! I understand re the tuning below 4k and what the engine can do, and engine longevity is far more important than ponies. It drives great and I'll report in on and off how its going.

Dyno will come - I forgot to grab them and will pop in this week when time permits.

Great gains! Mike previously tuned my 2012 E92 M3 DCT and the results were phenomenal.

I just got the final version of the BPMSport Stage II tune on my X5M today and dynoed... 126 ft/lbs torque gain to the wheels. The car is now an insane beast. You can't even compare it to stock. It's like another turbo was added.

I'm sure you're loving yours as much as I'm loving mine!

I remain over-the-moon with Mike Benvo's tune - this is hard evidence of how good it really is. Thanks again for your help - I hope this post encourages everyone to follow through with it.

Torque numbers don't make sense - hp=torque at 5250 rpm which is clearly not the case with the data above. You should read the torque values off of the scale on the right side of the dyno plot.

Awesome whp numbers! I have their stage 2 tune, BTW

Good pick up. We use metric over here, you use ft lb the dyno is newton meter. Roughly 1.35 correction factor.
