From now on, why don't we all respond with go test drive both for these discussions? Not to be mean, but that's the best bet.

Sure, and I love it. The OP is almost in the same boat as i was when I bought my car. I had an auto 330xi for few years and didnt drive manual for 10 years. Now that i drive my 6MT M3 everyday, i love my car and gearbox more everyday!
I am not a Pro, but love learning and driving my 6MT M3!

Yes, but, as far as user interface is concerned, DCT is pretty much the same as steptronic. While we know DCT is a super fast manual, it does have P,D,R,N on it's gearstick. It's not taking the piss, it is how they appear to the driver.

So, do you want to drive a manual or automatic?

Just buy 2 M3's. DCT for the days you need it and 6mt for the days you need it. Problem solved.

I get your point. But I don't recall seeing "P" on the M-DCT. Park is automatically engaged when the car is turned off. The DCT in the 335is uses the standard tip shifter as in the 8 speed 5 series. That has a "P" button.

I test drove a DCT coupe as well today. I think it is definitely a great option, but if your heart is set on a manual, then go for it!

You're absolutely right. I'm guessing most of these posts on which one is better than the other have never driven both. I came from a 2008 6mt M3 and currently have a DCT. While I miss the 6mt at times the DCT is a pleasure to drive. Treat the DCT as you would a manual. Take your put off the brake pedal and your car goes nowhere. Need to gas it. There is no park gear. Just turn the car off while in a gear. No need to row through gears when going in reverse. You still have control over your revs and can also have the car contol it (behavior like an automatic). Both are fun as hell to drive and cater to different kinds of drivers. At the end of the day it's your choice alone. Do yourself a favor and try to spend a couple days with each if you can. I don't think you can make up your mind after one test drive.

10-4, and that's a fine contribution/comment into this type of thread. Just quit talking sh*t about DCT that you know nothing about (although I've noticed you hadn't done that in a while).

Treat each other with respect as long as you're cheerleading (thumbsup, trophies, clapping, etc). Here, like the real world, agreements and disagreements thrive, and they're opinions anyways. And, here, you don't see forum insiders posting advertisements thinly-veiled as great personal experiences at forum-sponsoring vendor shops.

I'm fortunate enough to have had my fun with the 6MT, but now I got something better.
DCT is only "better" (substitute more efficient) when it's used to do things the 6MT can't do as well, such as short shifting when accelerating out of bends and downshifting during braking. If you're not using DCT to its advantages then you may as well have the 6MT. Unless of course if you use the DCT as an automatic. In that case, you should be shot.

I don't care about DCT. If you enjoy your car, good for you. I posted my comment about 6MT.
