After many issues have finally upgraded to a E90 M3

Hi Guys,

After many issues with my E92 335XI (replaced transmission and HPFP) BMW was able to help get me out of my car and into an E90 M3. Sadly, I haven't had much time to drive since as soon as I picked up the vehicle I had to head out of town. Will hopefully get a chance to put on some miles now.

Thanks to Passport BMW for helping me get out of the BMW and Tom Foster for getting me an incredible deal on the 2010 E90.

Some initial first thoughts. The 335XI was a great daily driver and loved the quick acceleration in the city and the torque. I feel that for probably most of the people getting the 3 series, it's probably good enough for 85% of the people out there and if you ever wanted more you could always do an ECU upgrade to get the M3 numbers for straight line acceleration or move up to a 335is. However, you will never be able to satisfy the thirst/dream of owning an M. I honestly feel that as far as a daily drive/track vehicle the M is pure perfection. But for most people, they won't ever need that much performance, for the same reason why people buy a 328i even if they have the cash. M Tax FTL.

Here's some shots I have taken so far, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did taking them. I didn't get a shot of the rear seats, but noticed that the child restraints are different from the 2008's and the 2010, where the 2010 has all leather in the back seat, versus the plastic insertion points.

I wanted IB, but since I didn't have much time I had to choose from what was available in the US and the only blue left in the country with DCT, Premium and Tech was the LMB. Love your M Jesal and the fat 20X11 you used to have, it your vehicle and Kevins on here that made me want to get a blue M

I bet you're very pleased with the upgrade from the 335, eh?

Glad the dealer & BMW took care of you when making the switch, since you had the headache of dealing with the issues before.

Looks like you got almost all the options. Enjoy it!

It took a little while to find the vehicle and get it shipped, which was the most painful part, I don't know how the guys who do ED or PDC can stand the wait, the 2 weeks I waited were painful to say the least. But when the E90 showed landed it was nothing but

Haven't gotten to really open up the M yet, but I have to say the DCT, suspension and engine warm up are pure ecstasy. I can't wait until break in to hear WOT, but I have a feeling I'll still need an exhaust upgrade.

Since I had to choose from what was available, the only thing I wish I had was PDC, for some reason whoever spec'd it out opted for SAT. But other than that it had all the options I wanted. Have to say the new updated NAV is much much less headaches.

Nothing major until the X5 5.0 comes in. Going to get a Pinacle 35% and have to decide on what color front/side grilles. I'm leaning towards glossy, but I want the mesh glossy like the atlantis blue M3 IND did, but can't find that option on their site. And probably going with a clear or semi-smoked reflector. Down the road will be a Vorsteiner front add on spoiler and not sure about the exhaust. I like the Eisenmann and Supersprint sport exhausts, but Supersprint doesn't have it for the E90, so will probably go with Eisenmann like you did

Other than that who knows, just can't wait to get back home and drive the beast.

I hope so too, the one thing I caught when taking the pictures of the M the next morning was a scratched shifter, the dealer said they would have to replace the whole thing as you can't just change the face of the DCT. Will hopefully get it replaced this week and then move on towards the break in!

Thanks F, I can't wait to see the beast when the mods are done. Can't stand the reflectors and chrome.

I know right, should hopefully be a 3-4 weeks. M battles FTW. I just ordered the felt tonight, so I'm up to get tints next week whenever you are.

Congrats on the new ride. Tom Foster is fantastic. We have purchased three BMW's through him and I have to say that IMO there isn't a more customer service oriented guy in the business.

Yeah, he knows the business and takes care of his customers with hassle free prices when purchasing a new vehicle through him. Both Darwin and I have used him and have found great service and best prices in the area. Would recommend him to anyone interesting in a vehicle, just saw we referred you and you'll get taken care of

Why the change Nate? With the 335xi and I definitely was a lot of fun with the torque and plowing through the snow and rain

So after a few weeks and almost 1k miles now I have done some small mods. The reflector change may have to go, still undecided, as it doesn't have a perfect fitment, but it does give me the dark look that I wanted. Also, here's some shots of the different child latch in the back and the next mod I have done, recaro FTW!

You think 2 weeks is painful. I have to wait 5 months from the day I paid the 10% non-refundable deposit. This despite having to pay US$250,000 for the car.
