Disconnecting the Battery

I spent about 45 minutes tearing apart the rear right side of my boot only to find the battery covered by some kind of monster positive connector fortress thing. With all the Achtungs on it, I figured I better not mess around because with me there is a 100% change of being shocked and or shorting something out. Can't find a DIY anywhere on this. I just need to disconnect it. Any help greatly appreciated!

It's very easy. Just disconnect the Negative (black) first.

The negative is exposed and seems easy, but doesn't the positive really drive everything? If so, do I remove the negative and then "pop" off the two places the arrows point to and then unscrew it to remove the big positive terminal plate on top? I've never seen anything other than a simple terminal connector on a car (like the negative is).

take off the negative first, then you don't have anything to worry about with the positive. It's standard practice to do negative first, this way if you tap the body with your wrench or anything else there is no sparks. Once the negative is disconnected it is then safe to work on the positive side with no chance of sparks, or a short circuit.
