No way!!! I will rather give the guy the money for a new battery
than let a stranger hook up cables to my car and then having two
cars needing a jumper.

Thinking of it... I doubt that I would have the guts to ask an M3 owner
for a jump start if I was in the other end with a dead beater..

There's a lot of really out of touch people in here that are clearly the source of the douche bag BMW driver stereotype. Not everyone is so fortunate as to have a comfortable lifestyle where they can pay their way out of these situations. Not everyone can afford to pay for a tow, or roadside assistance or every bit of maintenance to their vehicle. Especially when they can just get a jump from any decent person nearby.

And shit happens, there's plenty of boneheaded M3 owners on here who do similarly stupid stuff (or more stupid) like leaving the lights on. There's an awful lot of looking down on less fortunate people going on in here.

It's not going to hurt your fancy fucking BMW to give someone a jump. LOL @ you people thinking your BMW is too good to give another car a jump.

Where do you come up with this stuff? So we are d-bags, dicks and now apparently elitest snobs with money..all because I dont prefer to use my BMW to give someone a boost.. you crack me up.

How do you know what is going to hurt my car or not? Because you heard it on the internet ..I have first hand experience boosting a car with a BMW and doing damage as a result..what do you have?..

You wanna chance it ..go for it..thats the great thing about being an American..freedom of choice.

And if it means I am going to be karmically doomed because I choose not to boost a car with my M3..oh well thats a chance I am willing to take.

Well, seeing as how I've done it a bunch of times, I have first hand experience. If your not a tard and cross the leads or something, it's not going hurt anything.

I would do it but my wife won't allow me to stop for strangers for any reason, period. She has her reasons. Knowing her she would make me call a tow truck for stranded people.

I've done that many times. If someone needs help and has cables, as long as you know how to connect them properly, the right thing to do is to help someone in need. Plus it doesn't really cost you anything more than 5 minutes of time. Good karma.

I could only wish that someone would do the same for me if I was in the same predicament. I know I have BMW Assist and AAA, but I'd rather get a jump and get going than wait for a tow truck.

How did you jump your car when you damaged it?
What got damaged? How do you know it was from the jump?

To prevent damage to your battery, you could get these: Michelin Smart Jumper cables. They automatically determine polarity, have surge protection and should make jumpstarting relatively safe for you.

In case you dont know how to jump a car, here you go: HOW TO JUMP START A CAR WITH JUMPER CABLES.

Keep in mind, you wouldnt wanna pass this up cause you're not prepared...

Just sayin...

Note to self: Add MStar to my ignore list.

As a guy that keeps jumper cables in some of his cars for a reason (e.g., the '79 323 Euro), I think I've received more jumps from strangers than I've given, but I've given out my share. I've also dug people out of snowbanks, push-started a BMW street bike in Bavaria, pulled a fuse on a minivan for a gentleman with a horn short, and numerous other things.

If you can't be handsome, at least be handy.

edit: Crap, there's no ignore function on this board.

I'm interested in knowing how to do so. Where are the jump points in this car? The trunk?

There are posts under the hood (gee, I wonder why BMW put those there? ) but I have also done it straight from the battery in the trunk.
