So after getting the low battery warning I now have not had either this warning or the IBD warning come on again.

When the IBD warning was showing, the Comfort Acceess system did not work (either locking or unlocking). Apart from the Start/Stop function, which hasn't worked on my car for months, this is the only system I noticed not responding.

I drove the car as per usual to work and back for a few days with the only changes being made as follows:

- inserted the key to start
- didn't have nav on display as I normally would
- turned off the auto headlight function

Can't imagine these made a big difference, so wondering if the battery started charging earlier in the trip than usual. CA is now back working fine as well.

My battery said low for a year before it finally died. And even when it died it was because it was parked up for about 5 months without charge. Got 6 years out of it

Warning came on again last night, but fortunately my Ctek MXS 5.0 had just arrived.

How do I tell if the battery is an AGM battery or not?

I'm now getting this error. I imagine it would be causing my stereo to loose its bass and the time and date to reset?

I've booked in for a new battery with the upcoming rego- hopefully that will solve it.

Where do keep your keys at night? If they're within range of the car and you have comfort access, the car never sleep and drains the battery.

I have to add. This is not my first BMW, I have never had to charge a battery.. Mine have both been my daily drivers, and during the summer months I would leave my car for 2-3 weeks at a time, and I never, ever had any issues. My M is a '11, and this is the first time ever that I have seen the "increased battery discharge" come up, with the little picture of the car on the lift. It said it for two days, and now its gone. Go figure. I don't leave the keys anywhere near it, the car is garaged, and the keys are inside the home, far away. Im going to keep an eye on it with this. I hope its nothing major.

I am still on my original battery. I use my CTEK and charge it to full capacity frequently and when I do so, I get a full charge. Mine is a Sept '07 build.

I'm with AussieM3... Still on my original battery and charge it about once a month for good measure... and my car is even older than his!

I used the under-bonnet charge points for what it's worth...

Definitely under bonnet (hood). BMW don't recommend charging at the battery. Don't ask me why ...
