ESS Tune Update

This past week I was at the track (New Jersey Motorsports Park - Lightening) and it was great to be back out there ringing out the car and getting my speed fix. Among other parts I was trying, I was testing out ESS's new "NA Version 2" tune for the Akrapovic Evo Exhaust specifically.

First off, ESS's timing couldn't have been better, they sent me the file in perfect timing to test at the track (in typical Roman / AJ excellent customer service fashion).

Results are straight forward, there is improved overall response from driver input (throttle modulation, etc.) and definitely improved partial throttle under load. The changes are not drastic nor power related, but it's certainly feels great at all rev ranges and a bit livelier due to the refined tuning.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to shoot an email over to them. I think the car can use some smoothing part throttle in the low to mid range especially. Even with a 240E Akra tune already installed.

Just send us an email if you have our remote tuning interface and we will send you the new V2 tune.

Roman, is the V2 tune only for the Akra? I've got your HFC specific tune....

It is for all NA versions of our E9X M3 software.

Roman, I've read the OP's review but, can you tell us what to expect or what improvements were made over the V1 from a developer/vendor point of view?

I cannot discuss specifics but I can tell you that the new software has better partial throttle response feedback and is a bit smoother in overall performance than the original V1 software. I have been running it for the past month and I like it. Power is the same as the V1.

I requested mine last night and got the V2 files sent back to me first thing this morning. Very quick turnaround! I'm not running Akra, but do have a Full AA setup with HFC's.

Got it flashed this morning, but not a chance to really test it out yet. I'll be at the track this weekend so it will get a good test. Ran at the track with V1 last month and it ran great.

From what I can tell so far, the car seems more responsive with version 2 compared to the original.

Just loaded my v2 tune tonight and I like it. The improvements are a little hard to quantify....maybe I need some more seat time. However, as Roman said, there is definitely an improvement with the smoothness of the tune. I also noticed a little more punch than usual at low and mid range RPMs.

Agree and as I continue to drive this car daily, I'm really noticing the low and mid range RPMs in 3rd and 4th gear are more lively than they used to be. So far so good.
