2010 BMW M3 E90  [0.00]
the highs and lows of the day.

i learned today that a white e90 is not invisible to radar (claimed 87 in a 65) nor laser (claimed 82 in a 65).

and... that if you push or pull the cruise control 'hard/far' the speed increments by 5 mph.

For me, the biggest surprise was comfortable ride. I always thought M3 would be harsher. And also it's more practical than I thought. I was thinking I would have problems with ground clearance, but no.

Haha yeah I noticed right away how the hood flies up compared to my 335..

Also I have to add something else I noticed which I hate is how the seat belt shoulder strap tightens up everytime you get on it...sooooo annoying

Radio station seek

Was mystified why such an essential feature was not in the owner's manual.

From iDrive, choose Radio>FM>Manual search. When the skeumorphic dial comes up, press the Next/Previous track button on the steering wheel.

But only in automatic mode. Switch over to manual mode when the swiveling becomes too damn distracting.

Plastic front fenders

I just learned that the front fenders of my M3 are plastic. Very interesting. For an M car, did BMW cheap out by not going carbon fiber like the Corvette Z06?

when you open the lid to the trunk compartment in the middle of the trunk floor where the mobility kit is,you can hold the lid open by sliding it up into a curved metal catch that holds it in place.a small thing, but helpful.

3. I had hear horror stories about iDrive through the years, but it is surprisingly easy to operate.

4. The M wheels are no less a PITA to clean than the M135s on my E46 ZHP.

5. The auto-store buttons to set commonly used functions on iDrive are incredibly useful. I programmed number 1 to turn off the map, and number two to turn on the map/split screen entertainment, and number 3 to call Mrs. Llando88. Very useful indeed.

6. The autoseatbelt handover is pretty cool.

7. Those brake duct inlets in the front valence are pretty large.

8. The rumble of the S65 is a joy to hear. I’m not sure the car has a stereo as I have yet to turn it on.

9. So far the car is returning 17.8 mpg on my commute. I need to get out of grandmother mode at some point, clearly.

10. The M3 goes considerably faster than expected north of 4,000 RPM. Considerably. Faster.

Love it love it love it.

I was looking for this thread!

For power-folding equipped vehicles, the mirror will open automatically once you get rolling.

Sometimes I park my car in a small garage and fold the mirror on the way out, and when i get out i forget to open the mirror. I was surprised it opens by itself once you drive 10+mph!

I always have to put my baf the driver head facingthe passenger side, opposite way it never fits my E90 trunk... lol

No they just have to pay all those guys a bucketload to hand make each engine and although a CF front fender might have more strength, it is no more lightweight than the M's "cheap" plastic one which to date has never disintigrated at speed.

Weird. I'm just the opposite.

I have a Titleist staff bag with a 46" driver and Jan Craig head covers. I put the top of my bag on the driver side first and the bottom towards the passenger side. No issues.

I always have my 7 iron and my putter in the trunk not to forget at least to always have 3 balls as well I do mean the round ones , one never knows when one passes a nice golf course or driving range. In case of the nice golf course I pull in with my putter in hand pretend I am a member and practice around on the practice green for a spell then have a coffee and play some more.

You should use the German equivalant "Dankeschön" then you might hear (provided the iDrive is active) a soft "Bitteschön" in return

If any of you have a moon roof then look for the APSE (just above the ashtray).

"Auto Passenger Seat Eject"

Most of you don't have that so don't look for it

Safe driving everyone and remember no texting while driving ....

Hm, I wonder if the dimension of the E90 trunk is smaller than the E92's. I put it in diagonally with the head of the clubs going in first to the far passenger side corner. Then, the base of the golf bag goes in far driver's side corner without a hitch. I fit 3 golf bags in this way. Mine's a full size stand bag, the other two were thinner stand bags.

Dagolfpro, those Titleist staff bags are humongous. I'm amazed that it fit.

I discovered by accident that if you move your driver's seat(to clean or what not) and later when you open the door, the seat will move to your memory position 1 automatically. I have CA.
