2008 E92 m3 owners with high mileage? Issues?

Hello,

Just want to see 2008 production year owners with high mileage and what issue have you experienced with your car? I heard that 08 was the worse year to purchase an m3. Just want to prepare mentally on what to expect.

65k miles. Clutch failed at 50k, probably due to previous owners driving habits. Secondary water pump failed at 60k. Hardtop needed some new pull cables $13 bucks and 30 mins time on my part. Thats it. Been a great car. I did change my RB and TA's before a failure (about $4,500 total for this). Those are known issues that if you address, you are likely good for a long time. The other common failure is evap for AC, about 2k.

Mvy covered the basic points, though I will mention that I have never seen an AC evap core fail in the years I've been driving and servicing these cars. Never even seen anyone else local talk about one failing. I wouldn't say that is a common one worth worrying about. Rod bearings, definitely....

I also wouldn't consider the '08 the "worst" year to pick. It is the first year of production so it doesn't have the cic or some of the other bells and whistles as the newer productions, but mechanically it is no worse than any of the other years.

First you should define what you consider high mileage.

I have what I consider a low mileage '08 (39k)

It's the most reliable car I've ever had. The E9x platform will take care of you if you treat it right.

i'm at 85k now and just had to replace my alternator and both pre cat O2 sensors along the valve cover gasket, one control arm rubber was bad so those got replaced as well - that's pretty much all that failed in my car. It's holding up strong!

My08 just went into limp mode for the first time. Have had her since birth. She's at 78k miles.

Besides normal service maintenance, this is the first major issue I've had. Expecting to replace both TVAs and/or idle control valve.

She's been a reliable one up to this point.

My 08 has been the most reliable car I've owned. Just basic maintenance. 71K miles and faster than most 09+

Only thing I can think of people saying is the worse year is for the CCC. But you can easily upgrade the CIC for $500. So there point is invalid. Same engine. Same car. Plus I use my phone for everything anyways.

My 08 has a little over 106k miles. I've only had the car for a couple years so I don't know about any issues prior to me owning the car, but other than regular maintenance I've only had one real issue with the car. I don't really know terms or mechanical things so sorry if anything I say sounds off. The issue was something wrong with an O2 sensor, which was found and fixed by a local dealer. Also before it was found out to be a O2 sensor issue, my dad replaced the two throttle bodies. Since then I haven't had any major issues since then. Also I took two trips to Florida with the car from NJ which was about 1300 miles each time.

Edit: Also forgot to add the clutch feels a bit weak, probably going to replace it soon.
