New C63 AMG. 503 hp
Like the exterior, love the interior. Seats look awesome. Still no dual clutch. And they still apparently refuse to match tires to power.
28 mpg reported by motor authority, 34.5 mpg combined from autocar. What?? http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/ne...usive-pictures http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...sed-in-germany

Channeling the sturdy reserves to the rear wheels is an updated version of AMG's seven-speed Speedshift MCT automatic gearbox. Combined with remote steering wheel mounted aluminium shift paddles, it offers the driver the choice of up to five different modes via a so-called AMG Dynamic Select program: C (controlled efficiency), S (sport), S+ (sport plus) and, exclusively in the C63 S, R (race). An additional manual mode can be accessed via the shift paddles, although the gearbox is programmed to revert back to full automatic operation for added fuel savings.

My honest thoughts.
I like the look of the F80 more, like the DCT more, and the F80 is a lighter car. BUT the selling point of this car is the AMG engine. Which is a monster, and once they offer tunes.... good luck M3. I would take the C63 over a F80 M3. because it still looks great, and has a WAY more appealing engine for me. |

This gen like the last will have grip issues though. I don't get why they keep putting undersized tires on these monsters.

cant see how they can make a worse car over the old. I think the car is going to shock some people. AMG was little behind when the old C63 AMG came out. I think they learned there lesson. I was very close to ordering this car next year, but i was told the coupe is years away. I do not want a sedan while i do not have kids yet. |

Love the exterior. Love the interior. Love the motor and the sound. As others have pointed out, the car is under-tired. I suppose this has to do with noise, economy and maybe some steering responsiveness concerns, but a 265 rear is even too little for the M3's 295 lb-ft. This car needs a 265/295 combo IMHO.

Can't believe people love this thing. MB is getting ugly and going back to these weird round shapes. The CLA is ugly to look at and it looks like this was carried over. And the interior? Was sticking the Nav to the dash like an Ipad and afterthought or what?

Ahh I see. Read up on it a bit more and it's the lack of torque converter that threw me off. DCT ftw Also regarding the difference between US and EU mpg calcs this was a good read: http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum...37&postcount=2 Last edited by Shredicus; 09-24-2014 at 02:25 PM.. |

1 US MPG = 1.2 UK MPG
Btw, I have a very hard time believing than a V8 can get 28 mpg in combined cycle. What am I missing here? Highway, maybe, if it uses trickeries like the Corvette, but combined?

Honestly, this car inside and out looks leagues above the m3/4. That materials of the C400 were better when I saw it the other week and the AMG look simply gorgeous. It sounds infinitely better and you know it will be a good bit faster.
If its around the quoted weight of 3600 lbs, the M3 likely wont be the track winner either. Mercedes has proven over the past few years that at its best, it can easily trump BMW in the handling department. As for transmission, it is every bit as good as DCT on upshifts but isnt as crisp on downshifts. DCT is a good transmission but isnt anywhere near the best as far as dual clutches go. Too funny. I actually think MB is FINALLY making good looking cars with beautiful interiors. I LOVE the looks of the CLA.
