Seems laser and radar detectors are still fine though.

How wouldn't they be able to prove it. The "parking aids" sold all interfere with lasers. I think if they pull you over a see a parking aid they will just fine you, like it says?

True , but I think the case is now that just having a device that can interfere with them is illegal?

Yes, I think his point is they would have to prove that it does by putting them in that mode. That, if the system is designed correctly, could be the saftey net.

I wouldn't bet my license on it.

The laws in the rest of the country are all inclusive. anything that could potentially be used to detect radar in, on or bloody near your car will get you fined.
(to save a flame war, no the law does not say "near" your car.)

Traffic offences often have a reverse burdon of proof - you need to prove your innocence.

They don't need radar detector detectors either. if they shoot a radar at your car then quickly see your nose dive (you plant the brakes), that's all they need for a roadside teardown, and if they don't find the detector they'll find some bullshit reason to canary the car.

Expect the same if you're in WA and the laser operator can't get a reading of your car on the highway.

There is no law against radar detectors in WA.

There is many reasons why they wouldn't be able to get a reading. They would need to find evidence to charge you, you are correct that traffic laws have a revers burden of proof, but the threat of litigation for harassment would be sufficient for them to at least make sure there is something that would cause the error before fining you.

Unless you are an idiot of course, in which case you will likely get done for everything under the sun, and probably deserve it as well.
